John Stones

Pep should have the handle on this.

If he believes Stones is ready to try & put everything behind him & Stones himself is willing to fight with a new, top player, for his place, then it's absolutely fine by me. He was one of the best when fit.

By now Pep & Stones should have made it clear where they stand.

Until an injury and off field problems, pep wanted him in the team.
He was definitely on an upward curve, and had the brightest of futures.
He has never been as poor as some people make out, but I guess fans tend to do extremes.
Cannot see him taking a pay cut, why should he. Odds are against it now , but I hope he can come again.

He's really failed us when we needed him imo, but if we have a new cb, we don't 'need' him as such & he's almost a free hit then from our p.o.v.

If he gets it back, he's a contender for 1st choice, if not he's an emergency stand in.

Would still keep him, even if only as a fourth choice because hes HG.

Only sell if we really can't shift otamendi, which would not surprise me.

Think he's pretty much been either injured or awful from the 2019 season onwards. But its pretty obvious he has no intention of leaving from the instagram posts and all that. And Man City don't really force players out the way we did in the Mancini years so yeah he'll be here next year.

Well except this one. Hart shouldnt have kicked the ball into the stands when he came on in that friendly lol so really that was his fault

We are offering him for 20m to Chelsea.

Well Chelsea would be stupid to offer 20m for him, more like 10-15, if our sell price starts at 20m after negotiating it has go down...

Thats why old but clever negotiators like De Laurentis start at absurd 90m pounds fee for Koulibaly as even if that is lowered after weeks of negotiating it will still be a crazy transfer fee...

Selling unwanted players for very good money is not Txiki's strong ability...

When the kind of players like Ake and Dunk from Brighton are being at around 40-45m these days after being decent for utter shit clubs we really should charge more for Stones imo.

According to SSN Chelsea are close to signing Thiago SIlva from PSG on a one year deal or loan -that would probably dent any chance of Stones going to Chelsea...

I think we shuold personally persevere with Stones and move Garcia on (as he clearly wants to go) - 10-15m for Garcia would be good business

Pep is done with Stones imo. He will never play him even if Laporte, Ake, Fernandinho all injured next season. He will put Walker as CB or the youngster Bellis guy...
No point to keep him.

To be honest short term Thiago Silva would not be a horrible quick fix for City either if we miss out on bringing in another top CB. Way better than using Fernandinho there and to be honest he is still 3x the defender than Otamendi or Stones.
