I hope he stays. I think he is talented enough to beat out whoever we get when he is on his day ( Even if that's Koulibaly).

Hope he stays, fights for his place, wins, stays dominant and send whoever we bring in to the bench.

Do what Walker has been doing since he got here. We bring some super-duper RB in, Walker simply dusts his hands and out works them. Even though he has been less talented than every other RB we've brought in.

John needs some of what Walker is drinking.

It's unlikely even that would eradicate his alleged personal issues.

Seemingly John Stones is in need of much more than physical help.

Just looking at the two of them, Walker seems the more robust in every way imaginable.

Stones has had 4 years here to prove himself and has struggled. He simply deserves to be sold, like he would be at any other serious club if we honest like Real, Barca, Bayern. Bayern even sold Hummels after a season ffs.

We can't keep inconsistent sicknote for 5th year surely. Only if no one wants to buy him.

Agree.

Inability to concentrate for 90 minutes, zero positional sense or awareness of any danger.

Absolutely zero threat at set pieces given he's 6'2".

He's 26 and reached his full potential at 22.

He is here for 4 seasons, and we never missed him !

It was always we miss Kompany, then we miss Laporte.

We shouldn't settle for he is ok back up CB, its whether he is good enough to defend the team or not.

Fair enough. I thought we missed him after he got injured the first time when he started the season on fire.

Weird seeing you doing a 180 on stones. I thought we were both big proponents of not signing stones? He’s a head case, sick note, and lacks natural aggression. I actually think he stays and Tosin goes out loan, personally, for me, it’s time for him to go.

Hope alls going well for you bud :-)

I feel as though John won't want to stay if we bring in Koulibaly. He's going to want an opportunity to play week in week out ahead of the Euros next summer and if we add KK to Laporte he's not going to be playing a ton here, especially with Ake added to the mix and Fernandinho here another season. I think if Arsenal were to offer around £30m for him we'd accept that and roll into the season with Laporte, Koulibaly, Ake, Fernandinho, and THB/Tosin.

Nah! I was a huge Stones fan. Just hated the price. Loved the player.

All's well man. How are you coping with things?

If he was actually any good the price would have proved to be a bargain by now. Given Utd paid 80m for slab head and a similar fee is being quoted at the moment for a 29 year old who has never played in England.

What I find strange is that there were reports in January and early February that Arteta wanted to take 50 million rated John Stones to Arsenal, but that the price was considered too steep. Now I know Stones has had his problems, but it’s not as if he’s solely responsible for the pandemic, so I’m struggling to see why his price has plummeted so much in the space of a few months. Still think he’ll end up at Arsenal.

I’ll miss him if he goes, for personal reasons and an injury he hasn’t performed recently but is a top quality player and a really nice guy to boot too.

He was the one that organised the full squad signing a shirt for my birthday - fourmidables side too so was really pleased with that !!

Nice guy, great player - he will show the quality again

Because it suits everyone else if we let him go cheep, he will return to form and they can sneer at us for letting him go so cheap then, we don’t look after English players etc etc.

Sometimes players stagnate and need a change of scenery to refresh. I don’t think he’s a bad player, but I don’t think he’ll go up another level with us, which is why I think he’ll go to Arsenal, who now play a very similar style to ourselves. He’ll quickly find form there as he’ll play regularly, but it’ll simply be him getting back to his peak that he had already reached.

Others will always sneer at us no matter what we do, best ignore them.

Keep that shirt safe. :-)

Who put the 50 big ones on him?

I cannot remember exactly but it was definitely in the English media in early January, and it wasn’t one of those reports about how much we had bought him for from Everton.

Arteta and Stones also share the same management team, which is another reason why I think he’ll move there.

has he ever been worth £50m

If I’m negotiating his contract with suitors now, then yes. Back on planet reality, however, no.

We’re in a prickly situation with Stones as we need to shift him and he needs game time to recapture form, which is something I doubt he’ll get with us, especially if we sign Koulibaly. I think Arsenal will either buy him at a low price that we even subsidise, or we let him go on loan there.

After the 100 point season id of said yes. For whatever reasons though he is a shadow of that player and we'd be lucky to get half of what we paid for him back now. Maybe with Garcia going he will stay and can get back to where he was, but i doubt it.

Interesting thought, let him go on loan, gets game time, can’t play against us so weakens them, if he performs well and gets his mojo back we bring him back
