Johnstone’s Paint Trophy

In two minds about this tbh. I think that it would be great for our EDS lads especially if the home games are played at The Etihad. On average most lower league teams will probably profit from this due to greater interest in the matches with bigger crowds but it makes it less likely that they will get to Wembley.

It would be pretty pointless if it were a free draw and we got another Prem team's EDS though.

Maybe a totally new trophy could be introduced?

If they introduced a new trophy for U-21 teams then it would be no different to all the other myriad U-21 competitions and would be criticised for the lack of competitiveness and interest. If you mean a new trophy for U-21 and league teams, then you're asking the clubs in L1 and L2 to play in no fewer than four cup competitions every season on top of 46 league games and potentially three play-off ties, so I can't see them doing any more than sending out their reserves and hoping to get beaten simply to avoid the fixture congestion.

Great idea for us but absolutely shite for any lower league fans and really unfair imo.
Most lower league teams consider the JPT a completely waste of time anyway so it's not really devaluing the competition for them, they had to bring in rules to force teams to play proper teams and even then teams go to great lengths to get around them.

I don't watch many lower league teams but I know for a fact that most of my mates who do, prefer them to go as far as they can, realistically the only way they will see Wembley.
