Jonny Evans

Says who? All the reports say we're linked with him because he's experienced, decent on the ball, left sided and doesn't mind the fact he'll be 3rd or 4th choice. No one's even mentioned being homegrown - because it's irrelevant.

Pretty much everyone?

C'mon mate you were here in summer, the homegrown aspect was a big part of it, don't feign ignorance now.

It's a testament to how bad the mangler was the other night that this transfer no longer fills me with the same burning rage. Plus he scored today, which is nice.

Remains a bit of a kick in the teeth for Delphino though, no point in having 5 association trained players in the squad.

Don't understand this. It's not like there's a limit on association trained players. We can have 20 association trained players if they're good enough. All this means for Delph is that his place in the squad going forward will depend on merit rather than his nationality and I think he's more than proven himself this season on that front.

Why would you pay the homegrown tax when you don't have to?

Maybe you've answered your own question. Perhaps the management at City aren't paying a homegrown tax and they simply rate him. I've said before, I don't find this potential signing very exciting myself, but as someone pointed out a couple of pages back, Pep and the scouts will have watched a lot more of him than any of us have so maybe people should just calm down a little bit.

Yeah and you might well be proven right, I'm not for one second suggesting Delph has been anything but excellent, I just don't think he is the kind of full back Pep would want long term. He doesn't really offering anything going forward - occasional screamers aside - he doesn't get up and down the wing and I genuinely don't think I've seen him whip a ball in with his left foot once. Whereas the 3 full backs pep has brought in himself all do this. Plus the kind of left back we're being linked with, if there is any truth to those rumours, all do as well.

So if Evans were to arrive, it at the very least asks the question, which of the five homegrown players we then have fits the system the least and in that scenario Pep might conclude that that is Delph. Thats all I'm saying.

So basically this is just you wanting Delph gone and trying to force Evans to be a part of it. Right, would have saved us all some time if you just said that from the beginning.
