We had the chance to solidify our position at the top of English football this summer. 2 top quality players would have done this imo. Fucked this up in 2012 transfer window, and 2014 window was a disaster despite the restrictions we had. There are so many layers to this one. Remember we have agreed to make 2 payments for the player. Chelsea always pay on the never never so will £3m / €3m (depends on article you read) actually mean more money to Napoli? What about extras?

Can sort of understand that Chelsea may offer more money and a player only has a short career but Chelsea appear a bit of a mess at the moment. Conte is still in charge, they’ve been trying to get a deal for Sarri for months but haven’t sorted it yet. Sarri will not last at Chelsea, his homophobic comments will come back to bite him as soon as he has a bad run. It will take a while to get them playing his way in any event and Roman isn’t a patient man.

If Jorginho wants to go there I think he will be well off financially but has been very badly advised

I don’t think there’s anybody else of his quality on the market, but will happily be proved wrong. Strengthening defensive midfield given fernandinho’s age and our reliance on him was a must. Having Alves as second choice right back and Sanchez in addition to the attacking talent we already have would have been luxury additions.
