Bit to up there own arses for me, not bad though

Spot on, I never understood the hype and they definitely took themselves too seriously and they were indeed up their own arses.

One of my favourite bands still despite probably releasing more shit than good material and staying together far too long when it was obvious they all hated being in each others presence and had nothing left to offer as a band. Iffy as a live act plus two of them were rags.

I don't know if they're even together? I know about Barney and Hooky falling out but is there still a New Order? Is it just Bernard Sumner on his own? Not that it matters tbh. They're still releasing stuff, something called Lost Sirens out at the moment, a collection of outtakes from their last album. In essence a bunch of songs that didn't make the cut for a forgettable album, sounds great. They should leave it be and stop pissing on their legacy. Not even gonna to go into Peter Hook redoing Joy Division stuff. Embarrassing.

PS I don't know what Krafty is?! The video won't open on my phone and I can't remember the tune. Must be a later one.

New Order are very much together - minus Hooky.
Just did a tour of the USA before Xmas. Barney, Gillian, Stephen and Phil whatever his name is who has been in the band a while and a bass guitarist.
Their finest hour?
Temptation.

Temptation - yes their finest moment.
New Order are one of the finest British bands ever. From the breath-taking beuaty of "Power, Corruption and Lies" right through to "Technique", they were peerless.

Temptation their finest hour, remember first hearing it on john peel as a kid and that was me hooked ( no pun intended), power corruption and lies was flawless, technique was too and captured the feeling of the time in relation to dance and balaric tunes, good atmosphere at live gigs though not the best live lol..all in all one if my favorite ever bands to which you can hear their influence in many LCD soundsystems tune....

Now that's a proper choice of New ORder tracks. "Lonesome Tonight" is the best thing they ever did, for me, and Sunrise up there too.I'd also put "Your Silent Face" in there, from PCL. I was a massive New Order fan, I followed them around the country in the 80s.

I went to quite a few of their more recent gigs, too. Really enjoyed the reunion gig at the Apollo in 99 but after that they started to look like a karaoke version of their former selves. Last one I went to was in Blackpool about 5 years ago and I hated it. Wouldn't even dream of going to see them now without Hooky.

But for a few years in the mid 80s, when they refused to mime or do interviews and were flushed with the Factory "no promotion" ethos, when Saville was doing those beautiful sleeves, and they were pushing the boundaries with synths and sequencers, they were the best band in the world to me.

Loved them up to and including Technique.....yes they influenced a lot of dance bands, but also a lot of rock bands too like Nine Inch Nails.

Bit of a joke nowadays to me though. All squabbling and rowing. Knock it on the head yeah?

Yeah, I actually even thought they'd peaked before Technique. Dance music had arrived then and they'd lost their cutting edge.

"As it is and When it was" was an absolutely storming track live, but was rubbish on the LP. "Broken Promise" from the same era too. And Eligia still sounds great now.

They went seriously shit after Technique imo. I found my Republic album a few weeks ago and played it in the car and it was fucking awful, the stand out track is Regret but it just seems very forced to me.

Bizarre Love Triangle is my favourite but i'd like to give this a special mention..

1963 is fantastic, stuff away on a B side and deserved more. The whole of Lowlife is wonderful.

Press play " Oh I've just come from a land of the sun ....."

But what about Procession?. Well there goes my day loading more stuff on my ipod

Good calls. Low life was arguably their peak and what a live band they were at this time. They gigged a lot, had a big Manchester following, a mix of casuals and more alternative/arty/Factory types. Every other gig had a massive scrap between the Manchester lads and the local casual firm. St George's Hall Blackburn, Warrington Spectrum Arena spring to mind. City's Guvnors turned up at the GMEX 1987 gig and were having a go at all-comers on the car park outside. No other band had a following like New Order and the gigs were always an event. They were a mix of stunningly beatitiful and shambolic, and somehow it just worked.

"Everything's Gone Green" is a storming track, the other side of Procession. And what about the first two, written by Joy Division?

Ceremony and In a Lonely Place.

Yeah, they were pretty perfect up to "Republic", I was at that reunion gig at The Apollo, was a great night. Saw them a few times back around the time of "Low Life" (my fave album of theirs).
The tunes you mention: "Your Silent Face", "Elijia" (a few posts down), are just as good as the ones I posted up, that's the great thing about their albums, they are crammed with gems, like "Age of Consent", "Sooner Than You Think", "All Day Long". It's a shame so many only know them for the "Greatest Hits".

Couldn't wait for republic to come out and remember being so disappointed apart from regret, which must have been one of the few times I ever watch top of the pops, with them on the beach with the hoff.

POWER, CORRUPTION & LIES is a beautiful album and own up who thought they bought a duff LP when it sounds like its scratched at the end on the Brotherhood album.

Seen them a couple of times.

Got a signed cd and print from Sumner on their Crystal tour backstage.

Movement is probably my fav.
