Jules Koundé

It's not all about his height, shirley, it's timing and how high he can lift himself from the ground. It would be ludicrous to think every footballer jumps the same height.

Excited about this guy and prefer younger players to older players like KK but this feels like a slightly strange transfer we clearly took the view that we needed a experience and I sort of agree but now from nowhere we are going for someone different and one which we have not been linked with before and what about Upamcano

Amazing how this transfer, for many, seems to be the difference between optimism and pessimism heading into the new season. If the hype is warranted then I’m excited to see him play, but I also think Laporte and Ake as a partnership will be 10 time’s better than what we had to endure for most of last season!

If Ake is comfortable playing there, I agree.

How many goals do we concede from 6ft 3in forwards bullet headers from crosses v how many goals we concede from fast break counters.

We rarely have to sustain periods of heavy pressure and keep such a high line that even if he loses flicks ons around halfway line, the opposition rarely have runners in behind. In a top 5 of threats against us, aerial weakness at CB is not the biggest issue.

We organise ourselves for set pieces, they have not been a problem despite rarely being taller than our opponents.

As long as he is adequate aerially, and stats suggest he is, his height is a non-issue. Unless Pep leaves and we bring back Peter Reid.

Correct, fast counters are our main difficulty and especially a long ball in to the channel over the full back, mainly our left.

Something fishy here, no way we made bids for Giemenez, Kounde, Carlos and Koulibaly too.
Agents making a big play here I am afraid getting City's name involved.

Say what you want about Otamendi but his height has rarely been an issue.

Even I, one of Otamendi's biggest fans in Manchester, have to concede that against pacey forwards he's not usually great. But I'd argue that no centre-back in the Premier League has more consistently pocketed Harry Kane than Otamendi. In fact, we've never conceded from open play with Otamendi on the pitch.

Goes to show that you can be short but dominant in the air, even in the Premier League.

The reverse can also be true. I mean, look at Yerry Mina!
