Just like watching Barca......

There, I've said it.

The first 25 minutes of last night my jaw was dropping and my mouth was just hanging open. The passing and movement were just amazing to watch and we seriously could have had 3 goals (one a pen) in that part of the game. Our forwards were pressing all over their half and our FBs were right up the field just like Barca. This was against a team which was one of the main tips for the title this season (definitely Top 4). C'mon, playing Chelsea at home and they were playing like a championship side at the Etihad trying to nick a goal, which they did.

The problem, we took our foot off the pedal and kept trying to push it too hard when they retreated back to their 18 yard line. For some reason we stopped the high pressing game, maybe because they dropped so deep, maybe fitness, maybe complacency or over-confidence - I'm not sure which. In hindsight, probably we should have played it around the centre circle and forced them to come out to us. We were 1-0 up at the time and it was up to them to try and force the goal but we kept losing possession trying to force our way through a 10 man defence and let them build up their confidence.

I still think this City team has another gear they can step up into, one that we saw last night for the first 25 minutes. BM needs to sit the players down with a "before and after" dvd of those first 25 minutes and find out what went wrong and put the fix in. What I want to see is that 25 minutes sustained over a full match (or as near as possible) and I think it's going to start happening sooner rather than later.

I'm looking forward to the next few years with a big grin on my face even after losing last night.

Barca do it for 90m 2 or 3 times a week.....it was like watching the 'new' 'real' City for 30mins...not Barca.

we are some way off Barca yet mate, but yes, I do see your point, and at times this season I have thought along the same lines.

I agree about that first 25 minutes, probably the best I have ever seen a City side play (40+ years). I feel some of the criticism of City for dropping off our game after going in front is unfair, Chelsea visibly changed their game on 25 minutes, they were close to getting ripped apart, and their manager (who until last night I haven't rated much) got them defending deep in numbers, which made us change our game, and instead of attacking us they looked to do us on the break, which they inevitably did sadly, another shit goal conceded in a fairly long line this year.

When we went down to 10 men I thought we played OK, Bob got his subs right, but we got unlucky with the penalty, it was unlucky on 2 counts, one that it was given, it was probably 60/40 a penalty, and they are sometimes given, sometimes not, and on the second count Lescott was trying to get his body in the way, not his hands, but it was a poor shot if we're honest.

Anyway we move on, get it sorted out on Sunday, start another long unbeaten run.

It was like watch Barca's inept bastard child.

Their mentality is on another planet compared to us, to say nothing of skill or intelligence. Real Madrid gets a goal a 20 seconds from a massive fuckup, and Barca just don't give a shit. The thought of defeat never seems to enter their minds.

We get a goal scored against us, even when it's tied, and we completely lose the plot. Start hoofing. Do you think Barcelona hoofs? Fuck no.

I would be happy to even resemble Barcelona in any way, but we don't.

This. We are way off being in Barca's league but we are heading in the right direction.

We didn't have enough movement from the forward line to the midfield. Our forwards get so distracted in creating space for themselves they often forget that they have benefited from incredible service.

we started with the same tempo at bayern , and should have had a couple of penalties there as well , we are conceding sloppy goals against the run of play , and its costing us. Barcelona can go one -nil down for example against real madrid and they have the players to come back and control the game , we arent at that level yet.

really do hate when people compare us to barca

they can do it for a full game ,we play like them a bit for 20mins

they are lightyears ahead of everyone

not on their level yet and probs never will be(but maybe close who knows)
