Why we spent so much time chasing Zuculini last summer, but as soon as he signed we shipped him out on loan to one of the top Spanish clubs who had no intention of giving him first team opportunities.

Why we have gone from one of the best set piece exponents in the Premier League to one of the worst in such a short space of time

Why Navas and Sagna have hardly kicked a ball since the game at Stamford Bridge when most opinions and match reports indicated that they were our two best players on the day.

Why we continually rotate Kolarov and Clichy, but despite their differing styles we always expect a seamless transition.

Why we misled the media and New York City over the exact details of the Lampard signing, but since the resultant uproar he’s hardly kicked a ball.

Why we sold De Jong and Garcia when it’s obvious that against the better teams we need their technical intelligence behind the more creative, but ever so lazy, Yaya, Nasri and Silva.

Why we deliberately start games slowly when it’s obvious that most opposing teams are quaking before a ball has even been kicked.

Why we always take our foot off the gas when in control. Goodison Park last season should have been the lesson that didn’t need repeating, yet we continue to hang on desperately in games that should have been over (Moscow away, United home, Leicester away etc etc etc)

What has happened to Kompany and Zabaleta?

Why we played for a goalless draw in Munich when Bayern were injury ravaged and there for the taking.

Why so many of Pellegrini’s signings didn’t play against Barcelona.

Come on City! Let's snap out of this collective lethargy.

No idea on this one - whether the player chose to go there or not the club cocked up.

Why we have gone from one of the best set piece exponents in the Premier League to one of the worst in such a short space of time

We've scored a fair few from free kicks over the past couple of seasons. Our corners are abysmal though and need work.

Why Navas and Sagna have hardly kicked a ball since the game at Stamford Bridge when most opinions and match reports indicated that they were our two best players on the day.

No idea - I think Nasri got the nod against Barca because of a great game v Newcastle. Personally I'd have used Navas in either that game or at Anfield to expose the space and draw one of their centre backs out of position.

Why we continually rotate Kolarov and Clichy, but despite their differing styles we always expect a seamless transition.

Kolarov = more attacking, Clichy = better defender. It's the opposition that usually determines who plays.

Why we misled the media and New York City over the exact details of the Lampard signing, but since the resultant uproar he’s hardly kicked a ball.

We've had a fully fit squad - he wasn't signed to be in the first 11.

Why we sold De Jong and Garcia when it’s obvious that against the better teams we need their technical intelligence behind the more creative, but ever so lazy, Yaya, Nasri and Silva.

De Jong didn't sign a new contract - he was offered one. He wanted first team football - he couldn't be promised it. Garcia settled well eventually but we needed better. Fernando hasn't been the answer though. Yaya, Nasri and Silva are not lazy. They play different roles in the side. If you want to worry about the opposition players you don't rely on those three to defend - you play a side that covers that and allow them to play to their strengths. For me, against the very best you can only play Nasri or Silva... playing both means too much work for the full backs. We should be playing either Milner or Navas for Nasri in my opinion - depending where Silva plays.

Kompany - too many injuries and a loss of form. It's not helped that he's been up against some tough opposition who have exposed this. He'll show his quality hopefully by building confidence against the likes of Leicester and over the International break. Zabaleta has played a lot of football and he's shown some signs of improvement recently.

Why we played for a goalless draw in Munich when Bayern were injury ravaged and there for the taking.

You could argue that Bayern were more injury ravaged when we played them at the Etihad - they still managed to take the lead even with 10 men. They keep the ball so well the last thing you want to do is allow them to pass into space. You stay compact and look to counter attack. It worked when we played them at home. We should have done the same against Barcelona.

Why so many of Pellegrini’s signings didn’t play against Barcelona.

It's Pellegrini's squad - that includes those he's signed and those he didn't.

Come on City! Let's snap out of this collective lethargy.

Reigning Premier league Champions!

Just in case you needed reminding of that.

The aura that surrounded MANUre and The Swamp was enough for most teams to throw in the towel before they got to match day. I could script a conversation between half a dozen opposition players climbing on the bus for the trip to OT, and the resultant defeatism that accompanies surrender monkeys. I think that the opposite applies when teams come to The Etihad. They are raring to go. It might be that they have seen how easy it is to stifle our attack and nick a goal from nothing - Bony for Swansea, Burnley, Sunderland, NUFC in the LC (NUFC in the league are a very singular exception.) We do not have the fortress mentality anymore.
