Remember it well, stood over the tunnel next to where away fans were put in the Kippax. Miss those days with my mates. Atmosphere was electric in those days.

England had to play Italy in a World Cup qualifier and the media kept showing
how dirty juventus were against us and the rags and thought italy would play the same against England. They beat us 2-0 knocking us out. Pretty sure that was played in the daytime as well

Didn't we play AC Milan in the round before? seem to remember we drew 2-2 at their place & beat them 4-0 at Maine Rd...or is my memory playing up again

Barnsey had a great game that night too, particularly in the first half. (If I remember rightly, we were 3-0 up at the break)

Happy days in the Platt lane end with my late (sadly missed) Dad :-)

The AC game, from my memory George, we played away first and we were 2-0 up at half-time only for them to bring it back to 2-2 ( a few dodgy decisions too I think).
The return leg I think was 3-0 to us with Asa scoring a good goal from the edge of the area.

The odd thing I seem to remember about the first leg though was that it was played earlier in the day as I`m sure I remember being in school keeping an eye out for the result ?

That year I think we went out to Borussia MG in the 1/4 or semis.

Went to the away leg that year,about 250 on our plane and spent day around Turin. Remember it poured down with rain and we were under cover yet about 100 city fans had made there own way and were in the open section and got soaked. Police very scary also when the came up the steps and lined up behind us. Great trip,shame about the result
