It is very simple, we are not looking for "young" defenders who will grow into the position. We want defenders that are ready today, and KK fits that mold. He has proven he has quality, whether that will translate to the EPL is another question. All transfers are inherently risky, the player may not adapt well or any other of the million reasons why a player can fail to live up to expectations.
 
For every passing day, I get a bad feeling this isn’t happening. That Napoli president can’t be trusted for one bit. Wouldn’t be surprised if he called up United or Barcelona asking if they’re interested, just to sit back and watch the price for him skyrocket.

Both would be a good idea, imo.

We've lost Leroy, DS, Otamendi should be off, Garcia out, Zinchenko out, imo Gundogan should be going with them, we didn't replace Vinny anyhow. Ake counts as club trained & Torres counts as U21 in the Prem, so it should be easy enough for squad purposes . Bring in a few more young players.

You can read media whispers saying rags need a CB. Napoli will wait and if they feel rags will come they will hold on to their Maguire level valuation and will skin Rags and get that money

Napoli cannot wait indefinitely . They need the money to finance their other deals, both done and pending, and they would prefer their new signings at their training camp; the rebuild begins next week in their closed camp. They’re desperate for that lot to make a counter bid, but if that doesn’t materialise, and they’ve already been waiting a fortnight for it, then they’re in a difficult situation. That situation could become even trickier if Koulibaly asks for clarification as to his status.

That's something we missed from Kompany, it's like they don't speak to each other at the back and just do their own thing.

Or just don't play a rigid offside & have the instinct to know when to drop back, rather than start in a defensive position then rush forward to play offside in our own half, as our game reader did for the 2nd goal v Lyon.

Unfortunately misjudgments can happen when signing players from weaker leagues.

There are players with the potential to surpass KK. However, slim pickings for world class CB’s. If City wanted to start a project with some top prospects, I’m sure they’d go in for him,

True but FC Porto aren't a weak club (especially at the time we signed Mangala) but they did make us pay more than he was worth despite his potential.

I know but this guy claim to work for City so he has the inside track of what’s going on. But as several pointed out last friday, why risk his job breaking these ”news”?

Porto are not a weak club but it’s not exactly the world’s strongest league is it...
It’s easy for a player in the strongest team to look good against relatively weak opposition is what I meant.
