Kalidou Koulibaly

Are Napoli doing it in the hope that another club will jump in and offer the asking price
If they are that's their right to do so, their job isn't to make us happy, it's to get the best price for their asset.

That's why I've never bought the Jorginho stuff. If we had really wanted to get it done we could've met their price early, on but instead took a risk that they didn't have other options and and were wrong, so we didn't get the player. Napoli made a good deal for themselves.

Defender Gabriel from Lille is apparently closer to joining Arsenal than Napoli, and he was expected to replace Koulibaly at Napoli.

I can see this deal failing. Seem to be an absolute shitshow.

Don’t worry, there’s other players out there. In any event I doubt he’ll stay at Napoli and I doubt there’ll get a better offer than ours. Not really a shitshow, is it?

I don't think that's as far fetched as you believe, he's been watched a lot by every club in the top 8 excluding Liverpool for obvious reasons and Wolves. Quite a few from Europe too.
Have Burnley been having a look, them being in the big 8 n all that?

Koulibaly is one of the clubs most important signings in many years. I really want this done. We can’t f-k around with this position anymore.

We will win the Champions League whether it's next season or in 5-10 years who cares, this desperation to win it now is all a bit deluded for me. You certainly don't buy a player because you're scared a manager might only be here for a couple more years. We were successful before Pep (Mancini and Pellegrini), during Pep and I'm sure we will be long after Pep has disappeared into the wilderness.

Yes I want to win it now too, who doesn't but you don't change a strategy which has been very successful to this point over the last 7-8 years. The first 2-3 years were spent forcing our way into the Champions League group before UEFA tried shutting the door and throwing away the key with FFP, we had no choice but to spend big and fast to facilitate the long term plans.

I'm sure the strategy is to win the CL sooner than later and to provide Pep with sufficiently good signings to do it while he is still here. He might fail to win it but we won't treat him as a stepping stone whose task is to leave a strong team for the next manager. We will sign a ready made CB, not one with bags of potential who may or may not come good in 2-3 years. And among those who have enough CL experience and are quick, Koulibaly is regarded as one of the best. I don't know whether and how much we want Koulibaly. But I can see why we may be after him.

I don’t think we can win it, irrespective of performance while they continue to screw us over on VAR. Navigating 4 knock out rounds whilst being cheated is beyond us, but I totally agree your point about being patient

So are you suggesting we walk away from discussions because they might not sign a replacement?
Or is the 'shitshow' that we've not made sure they've got a replacement in?

What are you like when you're mum takes you're toys off you.
Do you always throw a tantrum when things don't go you're way.
You are up and down like a whores knickers.

Kompany was 33 y.o. when he helped us win the battle with Liverpool. And he had many injuries behind him. Koulibaly looks quite fit and quicker than Kompany. So, he might be pretty good at 33, who knows?

I trust Txiki and Pep to take the right decision whether we really need Koulubaly and how much to pay for him.

Stop panicking and go and put some dry knickers on ffs

Who says I’m panicking? ffs Ake!
I just want this done because it’s a very important and much needed signing, but got a bad feeling as it seem connected with Gabriel from Lille.

No but it seems Napoli would be fine to keep Koulibaly too. If Gabriel moves to Arsenal, I could see Koulibaly staying put. That’s what I meant.

LOL, it's called negotiation, it's what you do.

I know, but see above.

During lockdown there was a big queue for bogroll, there is only one club in the queue for an 80 million 29 yr old, don't worry.
