At this point I’m hoping we sign Phillips purely because it will wind up the fuckwits on here. I hope Pep plays Phillips and Grealish nearly every match so I can smile knowing they’re frothing at the mouth in anger.
So anyone that offers a different opinion is a “fuckwit”??
Curious stance on a Forum where we support the same football club.
I just hope Pep plays his best players and they deliver.

Eh? I said “since Mendy”. Your list are all before Mendy except for Ake and Grealish, both of which I believe to have been good signings.
Angelino was 2 seasons after Mendy. But anyway, it's a game of opinions.

Personally both Ake and Grealish have had half a dozen decent games each in a City shirt.

Before anyone says I am critical due to the fees paid, I don't care how much the transfer fees for any player we sign are, it's purely the effect on the team.

I was told on this forum by numerous posters back in September Grealish would come good by November, then by March and then next season. How long am I meant to give him.

Phillips, like Grealish, is just another of those signings I don't think we need.

Well, that was like the third time we bought him. Angelino actually came here 14/15 season. We bought him back in 2019 with our buy ac clause strictly so we could sell him on for a profit.

Angelino we sold then bought him back on a selll back clause played a few games as a useful back up then sold at a considerable profit Never meant as a permanent addition

I'm not particularly hot on Grealish but there are a lot of reasons why his first season might easily be his weakest. He has no experience in our style of play, or in the CL. He was the highest profile transfer of the summer, with a monster price tag. That is sort of a difficult start for someone with a character that attracts a lot of attention, especially after Euro 2012.

I will say I don't think Pep really knew 100% what to do with him. He probably is not as suited to midfield as he might have hoped. And I don't think he actually addressed the key psychological shortcoming of the team, which is goal scoring.

Still tho, there is nothing there that stops me from believing he could easily be an absolutely huge player going forward.

I have a few doubts about Philips, but he clearly addresses a key need. He can destroy every bit as well as Fern. He is a player who could relieve the pressure on Silva having to play in the centre, and Gundo being the only holding player when Rodri is out. He might even mean Grealish could be a thing in midfield.

Personally I think a fair few names in their haven't been flops, As you said it's all about opinions no harm in disagreeing that's what forums are for.

Grealish will come good I'm sure of that next season is his time to shine, It always takes a year to settle under Pep. Ake is a very good player he is just unfortunate to have players like Laporte, Stones and Dias ahead of him. He did play a huge part in the title win this season he was magnificent when called upon.
Bravo as a back up keeper single handedly won us a couple of league cups with his performances.
Otamendi is another played huge parts in our title wins.
Negredo was fabulous up top with Sergio and Dzeko the season we won the league.

The rest I'd say have been bad signings. It's vert rare we get it wrong over the last few years. Pity Jovetic couldn't stay fight definitely a seriously talent on his day.
Angelino was just about being traded because we could make a bit of dosh. Rodwell was a good player but he couldn't stay fit. He would only be regarded as a dud if he had the same injury problems at Everton. Pretty short list of duds considering that's over a decade and we've traded a lot of players in that time

Ready for the criticism from the happy clappers but we pretty much sign one dud every season. My money is on this one.
Lol! Am rolling on the floor right now.

They will defend him with their lives.
They will defend him till his contract expires.
Excuse, was that he needs a LB to give him "space" because Cancelo wasn't moving in a way it suit him and a striker to bang in goals from his "expected assist"!

Grealish sure needs a lot to be his alleged best! Well, he is getting what he needs now!

The sad thing is, this guy is surrounded by class, in arguably the best team in the world, with the best manager. Am hoping through osmosis, he gets something from being here, but gosh, I doubt he would.

Cucurella/Raum incoming and Haaland already here is supposed to unlock is "potential" , his technical prowess, lol. Let's wait and see, his heading towards 27 and am still waiting to see the hype justified!

So please other posters, don't crucify me. Am just waiting to see the hype!
