Kalvin Phillips

Depends how you define ambition.

I reckon there's a fair few people on here who wouldn't take a reduction in wage to have to actually do some work.

If hes got a lovely family and is happy in his home life, then hes not far off living the dream.
Wouldn't be a reduction in wage though. As long as he doesn't request a move, he could take a pay 'cut' at another club while getting the difference from City as a payoff

Cute opinion. He is not interested in earning a fraction of his current pay to play football. That's silly

There are no incentives ro do that. He is not trying to make the English WC squad or anything. This is a job. And he is at the peak of his potential pay. Why the hell would he give that up to satisfy some random people's wishes. He can enjoy good football at tge sunday league pub if he wants.

If a team comes in for his service and between that clun and City his current wages are covered, of course he'd go. But yhe idea he should forgo 50 to 75 grand a week for 2 years just so he can say, i am playing... Is silly on every level and i dont understand why some fans dont get this

This is his job. It might be your fantasy. But its his job. And his #1 Interest is himself.
It's not all about money. He has no desire to start playing at another club his level. Like i said earlier - total waster.

IF he can stay fit, Ake will be getting plenty of playing time here…
Not if Pep's comments are anything to go by - clearly doesn't trust his injury record to play more than once a week.
Kalvin made a mistake coming to us - but that's on us, not him.
Given where we are, the only way Kalvin helps is resting Nico G and Rodders for Exeter and Newcastle

If we play Kalvin against Newcastle, we’ll get destroyed.

There is something strange about all this.

Why haven't we paid him off?
Why hasn't Pep brought him into the squad instead of a youth player?
Is he fit as he appears to be training with the squad?
Why are no clubs showing an interest in taking him on loan, even a league one team?

Probably all come out when he does eventually move on but it doesn't seem to be a Winston Bogarde situation or a Chelsea bomb squad either

Seems that Wolves are not only keen, but keen on buying him.
If that’s true I’m guessing they won’t be paying what he’s making here which means City probably have to pay the difference between his current pay and his future pay for a couple of years. City would likely see that as a good spend.

I don't mind having a whip round if it means him fucking off.

Maybe Ipswich and West Ham wanting to end his loan ASAP has scared clubs off from loaning him, nevermind buying him!

If City are offered the chance to pay the bloke 50 or 60 grand a week for the next couple of years, rather than 100 grand-plus, then they’d bite the hand off of any club willing to take him. In an instant.

I can’t see us playing him again because we don’t want to advertise just how bad he is.

Give him a megaphone and he can spend the match waking up the Colin Bell stand and tunnel club mob creating an atmosphere. Grinning.

Nah he'd be shit at that as well.

Do not blame him, blame the person that gave him a huge flat wage, and not a medium wage with huge bonuses, Phillips was not a superstar or a desperation buy, he was not even a first team starter. The contract is the fault, the contract is the reason no one will go near him.
