Karim Rekik joins PSV on loan.

Valuable experience for Rekik and a good performance from PSV as well. Hopefully he will return and play a part in our squad next season.

Can't wait till next year when we can look forward to nastasic and rekik playing LCB and we're rid of lescott

What? Who says things like or looks forward to being "rid of Lescott"? Yet again he was immense for us last night. Some of his defensive play was top class, even against a good player like Ben Arfa.

This is good use of the loan system in effect. He could be rotting in the U21 system like Suarez last season, he could be playing in the kick-and-rush Championship like he was last season, or he could be playing for PSV in the Champions League and a technical league known for its development of young players. City have made the right choice and whether he has a great game or awful game tonight, this is priceless experience. 18 years old and facing Milan in the Champions League.
Absolutely. For top English clubs this is how you have to do it. Even if we had the equivalent of a "Barcelona B" in the Championship, they'd still be facing kick-and-rush opposition, not being challenged by technically adept opponents; obviously we would implement a coherent, technical playing still in "City B" but overall it's still better to loan them out to the likes of the Eredivisie as they just get a better development and better experience (the Eredivisie is a great league for developing young players - though you do have to be wary as Dutch goals can be a devalued currency - see Afonso Alves for an example).

Had a solid game but missed an absolute sitter to win the leg. But impressive all the same, even top strikers miss sitters so it's not a mark on his defensive performance. Gave Balotelli a few kicks too!

What? Who says things like or looks forward to being "rid of Lescott"? Yet again he was immense for us last night. Some of his defensive play was top class, even against a good player like Ben Arfa.
Please rewatch the first half then and the games he played in last year. He played all the easy home games while nastasic started almost all of the tough ones. He's on the downside of his career and isn't getting better. I'll give it to you that he grew into the game last night as it went on but he's just awful with the ball at his feet and gives me the heeby jeebies anytime the ball is anywhere near him.

The statistics confirm a telling impression I had from the game. Lescott made more passes than any other member of our back four. His accuracy wasn't bad, actually, at 92%, but the worrying reason for this is that opponents know Lescott is weak with ball at feet so aggressively close down other members of the back four and let him have the ball. The effect is that we find it more difficult to break free from pressing by opposition forwards and our attacks build much more slowly. Needless to say, this will be much worse in games where the opposition aren't down to 10 men at half time and are in the game as the second half moves on, rather than demoralised and demotivated.

If Lescott is to play regularly, it's critical that we find a way to deal with this.
