Madrid made some weird buys this summer.

Bought Odriozola as back-up to Carvajal and loaned out Achraf-Hakimi, why? Hakimi was perfectly fine as a sub, and young enough for it. Odriozola was a starter.

Bought Courtois when you have Navas, neither player will be content as a back-up, why?

City would need permission from the Premier League to sign Navas - or any other contracted goalkeeper - on an "emergency loan”, because of the transfer deadline passing on August 9th.

If we applied for an emergency loan the Premier League would look at the goalkeeping situation and decide on whether they deemed it as necessary, this seems unlikely as we have two fit, available goalkeepers over the age of 18 in Ederson and Grimshaw.
