Keep the faith we WILL get 9 points.

I think the players will come back stronger than ever from this result. The fact is we lost in the last 20 seconds, we were nothing like thumped. We are much much closer to united now, they know it, we know it and so do the media.
No reason why we cant take at least a point at Arse and more likely 3. We must, and i think will, beat villa and spuds at home. I predict a finish for City of 72 points. Even if we lose at Arse (we wont) we can give it a right go at wet spam, who lets face it will be either safe and on the beach, or crapping it going into the last game.
Faith in these last games will see us through..next season is when we get even!!!!!!!!

what about if spurs win all there games and draw v us
we lost 4th spot now and will not get it back 5th place is ours and a uefa spot
even if scholes did not score we still would have been 5th this morning

spurs are better than us i hate to say that
but when you play at home you should never give the away team the ball and just sit back

You have not got a clue. I hate fans like you. You know nothing.

IT IS STILL IN OUR HANDS. It is up to us to beat Spurs at home.

As for givingthe away side the ball and SPurs being better than us. Did you see them surrender the entire possesion against Arsenal and fluke a win. Or their loss at home to Stoke or Wolves or Sunderland away.

Fuck off I say to people, if that is the best they can do to support.

It's been such a bizzarre season for everyone. I think we all thought this was our big shot. It's going to be difficult from now but we never did like it easy, that's why we are still here. I've had a lot less abuse from the rags at work ithink they realise barring some major investment their future is very uncertain.

Plenty more twists and turns yet.

Spurs at home is the £60 million game. United must beat spurs though and we must take 3 pints from Villa and the gooners.
If we dont get in the top 4 i expect Mouriniho in even though i like Mancini.

I don't envy the players. last night I felt genuinely, 100% bummed. at a loose end, couldn't concentrate, didn't want to think about the games coming up. the thoughts that run through your head at a time like that..... tevez is on strike because he wants a new contract, he won't score again and will be off in the summer, bellamy has lost the plot and the weak minded in the dressing room will lose their focus and faith in the tactics, our players are a bunch of jokers and nearly men, the manager aint what I thought he was, our club is rotten to the core and we'll go through this all again next season and the season after because we keep changing but never make any lasting change to the culture. nasty stuff. but in the cold light of day I can say, it's ridiculous. it's ridiculous to think we are the same team that was happy to bob along in lower mid table mediocrity, ridiculous to think that we haven't made huge strides in the last year and will continue to do so. it's ridiculous to think our players are focused on anything else than getting fourth, so it's ridiculous to point fingers.

frankly a certain type of post has helped pull me out of the mire. I don't like defeatism, it makes me angry, especially when the fight is in the balance. throwing the towel in at the first sign of trouble is not what sport is about.

spurs have done brilliantly in their last two games. we didn't throw anything more than a point away. they have stolen four or five. kudos to them. but all it means is they have their noses in front, they edge it 60-40, which shows how strong our position was ten days ago, where it was 80-20 in our favour. if that bunch can turn their negative into a positive, I am quite sure that bellamy, tevez, adebayor, kompany and co can do the same. the odds on us winning at arsenal are falling. they are conceding goals for fun. and even if we don't win there, it's ridiculous to assume that spurs will definitely continue in this vein of form. winning a couple of games at home is one thing. going to united, and coming here, is a completely different kettle of fish. let's not forget they have already blown it once when it mattered the most. against sodding portsmouth.

I said it earlier. They (spuds) cant feed off the same adrenalin in the next games, as they did at home to chelsea and arsenal. I think you will see a very different spuds at o.t. next week. Still i am not worrying about them, only what we do and we can start with 3 points at arse. They (arsenal) are bobbins at the back, and as long as Roberto gives us a chance with the game plan and tactics we can score against arsenal and secure a win, no problem.

9 points won't definitely be enough, we need to beat Spurs it's that simple, and that's assuming we don't lose further ground before we play them. Away to Arsenal and home to Villa are too extremely tough matches, I can't see us geting 2 points more from those games than Spurs get from away to United and home to Bolton. That being the case we'll still be behind Spurs going into the game with them, and with Spurs final game being away to Burnley I can't see them dropping any points there. We need to ensure we at least match the points Spurs get from the next two games and then we need to beat them. If we go into the final weekend behind Spurs then we'll miss out on 4th, if we go into the final weekend ahead of them then I can see us doing enough to beat West Ham (who, in my opinion, will be safe by then).

-- Mon Apr 19, 2010 2:40 pm --

Arsenal have won 14 of their 17 home games this season, they will be overwhelming favourites on Saturday, and rightly so. I'm not expecting anything from that game, if we manage to get a point I'll be happy.

They're currently trading around about evens so while they're favourites they're not overwhelming favourites and while they have won 14 of thier 17 home games they've not had to play them home games without Almunia, Gallas, Vermaelan, Fabregas, Arshavin and Song. We have been excellent away from home recently and Arsenal have struggled to beat West Ham and Wolves of late so theres no reason why we can't go there and get something

As shown yesterday Campbell and Silvestre are extremely dodgy when the pressure is on them and you can run in behind quite easily and we've got the players to do it. We've got to aim for 4 wins out of 4 and see where we go from there, if we don't beat Arsenal and Spurs fail to beat United then it's still all to play for but i can't see Spurs getting anything at Old Trafford so we've got a chance to gain at least a point on them but it won't be easy but then again very few games are at this stage of the season

Utd will be beat Spurs,if they can't do it fair and square, the referee will make sure they do.I think we'll take a point from Arsenal, and really believe the Spurs game at home will decide all.

if I've ever wanted to believe a conspiracy theory, it's the one that arsenal will 'let' us get a result because they don't want their neighbours in the champs league, and having nothing else to play for.

Nice idea, but I think that - despite their dislike of spuds - they would be rightly fearful of what will happen when we get into the CL

I can't believe that any more than i can believe Liverpool will lie down for Chelsea in order to stop the rags overtaking their league winners haul.English football doesn't work like that, except of course when the rags laid down for Derby when we needed them to win.But we all know they are horrible bastards.

Wenger has far to big an ego than to ever let anyone put one over a team of his,and he has a score to settle with us after the last couple of games we have beaten them.Plus the Ade thing.

no, I don't really believe it. but it would be nice if arsene the accountant looked at the impact that having three champs league clubs in london might have on his revenues, and this distracted him, momentarily. but I doubt it.

on the subject of wenger's ego, I think that's our best hope of winning. he will not deviate from his gameplan, which suits us, and may even pick a couple of youngsters, believing that his intellect alone will clearly beat us this time. he's many things, but he's not a cynical winner.

Simon 23- Thats a really good post, pretty much agree with everything you say. In particular about us having to rethink against the better sides. We're not guaranteed anything out of Arsenal or the Villa match but for argument sake if we are still in the running against Spurs when they come to Eastlands it worries me that we will line up the same way we did against united. Spurs have shown how well organised they are and deserved to beat Arsenal and Chelsea.

I'm intrigued to see how Mancini sets out the team against Arsenal but we have to get Adebayor and Tevez in shooting positions and that just didn't happen in the derby.

Agree with that - and Ade and Paddy MUST play - do you think that they might be up for it?

i am reflecting in the cold light of day, that if you had offered any city fan at the start of this season ,
1. a top six place
2. europa league next season.
3 a cup semi final.
4 youg players in their prime signing for this club and therfore able to give there best years to us ie AJ and if the papers are to be believed boetang from hamburg

then 99 % would have ripped your arm off, so why despair, we have made massive progress.

if we knick 4th and get champs league, we might draw a top club and fail to qualify for group stage, europe adventure over with a wimper

finnish 5th we are seeded for europa league gaurenteed at least 6 games and could reach knock out stage

vital experience for squad, still able to offer eurpoean footie to prospective signings and high profile nights for club

so hey remember where we have come from and lets get real, 5th will be awesome and next season we will kick on and top 3 is a reality

the future is city and that is what scares sky, bacon face and everyone else

one more season wont hurt, hey weve been waiting since 1970 so come on lets get siging the blues
