Wouldn't stay there mate, it's dog rough.

First time we went there, 1985,(we stayed in Argostoli the capital up the road, in the Aenos....) there was three hotels and the only food 'outlet', was a wheeless old ice cream van on Makris Gailos (Big beach) selling water, soft drinks, beer and gyros/kebabs.....or traips to the hotels.....

Last went a few years ago, and it was unrecognisible.....loads of hotels and bars etc all along Lassi....still a lovely island though. Make sure you get up to Fiskardo and Assos....and to the Lake Mellisani trip too.

A local ferry runs every hour or so from Argostoli over to the peninsula of Lixouri, was a great loooooong beach there called Xi (pron. ix-ee)

Very green island, worth hiring a car and exploring.....enjoy it.

Thees. 'Tis where they filmed 'the Goonies' Also 'Drogarati caves' is a must.

Normally go with Mrs Moon in October (International break for footie).

Try and find time to go to Skala for me it's the nicest part of the Island.

Cheers Gaudino, sounds good! Have thought about the car hire, it's just I'm only in to my first year of driving, so i am a little apprehensive about driving abroad, are the roads safe enough for a novice?

The roads are pretty quiet, nothing like what we get at home for volume.

The only issue is narrowness on the sides of hills/mountains with coaches coming towards you round blind corners. If you can handle that a car is a doddle over there.

That sounds really bad, it's not really if you are a calm driver.

Our favourite Greek Island, we usually stay in Skala, which has improved greatly in recent years with some quality hotels and restaurants but never turn your back on the middle of nowhere tavernas.
Highly recommend a trip round the island by car. Can be done in a day but why rush.
