Keir Starmer

First time today since I got the vote I have stayed at home. My polling station is 500 yards away from my house, but i just could not justify voting Labour, i would never vote Tory, I despise the Lib Dems and there was no other option.

Plus i really resented showing ID to the people at the polling station as they have known me for 50 years, she lives 5 fucking doors away.
I've voted Labour all my life and was for many years in the party, quite of few of those years in Finchley, so I had the pleasure of campaigning for Labour against Thatcher in her constituency.

But yesterday I stayed at home for the first time since I was eligible to vote. I can't imagine a scenario where I'll ever vote Labour again.

I don't see the issue with ID - what's wrong with confirming your name/address to prevent any chance of fraud?

I get that some haven't got ID, but i would have thought nowadays it just should be a legal requirement.

Really? Last election before this one you took part in you would have been asked your name and address and ticked off as having voted and been given a voting slip. You have always confirmed your name and address. Just this time you needed certain approved ID which you never needed before to prevent in person fraudulent voting which has virtually never happened anyway.

Why was a verbal declaration ok previously but now they need your driving license?

Because some things change? Whether you agree or not saying well you didn't have to previously isn't a great argument.

I genuinely couldn’t remember, I carry my driving license every time I leave the house so for me it’s really not a issue.

I think logically it makes sense just to have some ID to prove your name/address before making a democratic vote , no idea why it hasn’t been introduced earlier.

Either way,It’s looking likely that it’s not benefited the Tories considering the results coming through.
