Kevin Beattie RIP

Top player, serious injuries really hampered his career, especially at international level.

Fantastic centre half.really sad news. Brave committed skilful and a real leader of men.
The cup semi final in 81 at villa park could have turned out very differently if he had scored with a typicaly powerful first half header...
Have watched footage of ipswich in the mid 70s when he was in his prime and before injury tore the heart out of his career, one match in partc where he strode out of defence, shimmed past a player and sprayed the ball 60 yards to a team mate on the opposite side of the Portman rd pitch.
Great skill and athleticism for a centre back.Never really got the credit he deserved for his top notch foofballing ability.
Rip Kevin Beattie.a sad sad day for Ipswich Town Football club.

England in the 70"s were deprived of some great players through injury Colin Bell , Gerry Francis, Ian storey moore and Kevin Beattie

One of those players that you wish was in your team , brilliant defender and strong as an Ox , Ipswich had a great team in that era , Mills , Mariner , Boiled Bollock , Muhren , Thijseen ,and Beattie was a good footballer he could use the ball as well , scandalous he only got nine England caps , but he did have injury issues , sad to hear of his passing R-I-P big man.
