Simply superb today, every time he gets the ball in the final third you think something is going to happen. Loved the way he just slotted into Fernandinho's role after he went off. Don't think i've ever seen a player at City as gifted as him on the ball and as hard-working as him off the ball.

Best midfielder in the world.

Joining the argument for best player in the world, him or Neymar next in line after Messi.

That's not a thing.
Sure, it doesn't ever get quoted; doesn't mean it's not important. Silva used to be king with those lock picking passes to Zabaleta, which never added to his stats but were our most important passes.

That graph just shows how influential he's been in creating chances in the final moments of a play.

Kev sets a great example to the rest of the squad....clearly in the top 3 in the squad in terms of ability (if not top) but his work rate his phenomenal. Slots into any position as and when needed.

Apart from all his other qualities I think there is now no doubt that he is the best passer of a ball in world football.

Yes, it is. It is called a Key Pass (@domalino this is actually the name of the metric) and our David (and Kevin) is a master of it.

There have been some amazing players that rarely got the assist or goal but if you took them out of their teams they suddenly would go to ****, and most were the ones that were the key pass machines, playing the ball that unlocks the defense and allows two others players to make the rest look easy.
That's not how they count key passes. Key pass/chances created = The assist to a shot.

Regarding Super Kevs performance today no words will be able to describe this amazing man. He's just phenomenal.

It really depends on the assessor, and even then it is up in the air. Whoscored defines Key Pass that way but Opta and other proprietary stats entities define it as the “pass leading to assist” (or both, strangely enough). It’s one of those that is really still being standardised.

See it for yourself here (it’s a bit older blog post but still accurate; Opta indicates they use it both ways): http://optasports.com/news-area/blog-optas-event-definitions/mbNewsContentTemplate

Actually had a long conversation with a gentlemen that runs the statistical analysis team for a betting company a few weeks back and they use the “pass leading to assist” key pass metric as a means to weight odds for teasers now. He says it has become one of the most profitable (read accurate) predictive models they have and is one of the reasons they only offer special odds offers on Kevin when there is a small doubt if he will play in a match.
