Hi there blues, this is a letter we have sent to the club yesterday joining hands with MUFC Supporters Club Sri Lanka. Any help to send this request to the related officials at City would be an immense help.

Dear Official,

As you might be aware, Sri Lanka faced a heinous terrorist attack on Easter Sunday targeting Churches and other public places. The result was one of the most devastating acts of terrorism in terms of scale with more than 290 people (and counting) who are confirmed to have passed away and a further 400+ people being treated in Hospitals. Many of the deceased were devout Christians peacefully participating in the. Morning Easter services before having their lives brutally changed forever.

It was truly a sickening attack from which the whole country is still recovering. The places which were most impacted: Negombo and Colombo have a high concentration of football fans and many of these fans and their families and loved ones were affected. We are happy to note the many kind gestures we have received from as far as France, China, Israel and Russia. However as football fans, in this moment of pain and darkness, we firmly believe in football’s universal power to unite and strengthen the resolve of those in need.

In this context, It was really heartening to see Real Madrid CF engaging in a minutes silence in respect of the victims prior to yesterday’s game.

On behalf of the City supporter base in Sri Lanka, as the official Supporters Club, we have formally requested the Club to consider a gesture such as a minutes silence at the next game which is the Manchester Derby which would mean a lot to the affected.

The Manchester United Supporters club in Sri Lanka on their part, have also informed us that they will be formally requesting their Club on the above as we stand together in believing in football’s power to heal in this moment of strife for our country.

We would appreciate any assistance you could provide in pushing for this small gesture on the part of the Club which would mean a lot to our entire community

We thank you in advance for your kind assistance,

Best Regards,
Samaru Gamage - Chairman and SPOC - Manchester City Supporters Club Sri Lanka
