If you're into cooking, you should save some pennies and buy these.

Sous Vide. An excellent way to 'boil in the bag' your vac packed grub to perfection without losing any juices. Also can be used as a slow cooker. Pop in your stock, wine or liquid, bang in your meat and leave for several hours. Pick up a decent one off amazon for a couple of hundred.

The Anti-griddle. Freezes instantly rather than cooks, great for making patterns of purees, sauces and other things that can be put straight onto the plate, then slowly melt in front of the customer/guest. If lef on for a while, the outside of a sauce can stay crunchy while the centre is soft. Freezes oils too. Not cheap however.

Pacojet. The ultimate tool for making Ice cream and smoothies. Put your frozen product in the container, lets say frozen bacon or broccoli or whatever you want. Select the portion you want, press the button and the pacojet will vaporize your frozen food into a frozen powder. All you do then is add a touch off cream, or other liquid, mix and hey presto, broccoli Ice cream, or bacon Ice cream.

Bamix. Forget your Braun, Delonghi, Bosch, Kenwood or other hand mixers, this fucker is the bomb. Chances are, you'll be handing it down to your grand kids. Steps up to the plate when other hand held mixers burn there motors out.

Food for thought kids.
With regards to vacuum packing steak, how long would it last for in the fridge?
Cheers

up to 2 weeks in a good fridge. Check After a week, slice the bag at the seal, open, smell, if good, vac pac again in the same bag a little further down from where you opened it.

The Sakai Takayaki bread knife is only $80, P! Me Global tomato knife were more 'n that!!

Sorry paphos global knives are bloody brilliant!

Best thing ive bought this year is a fridge with ice maker and connected directly to the water mains for endless supply of chilled water. Lifesaver in a hot country.
I'm not saying Global are crap, they do a good job. I'm saying there are better knives than global. Google Honyaki and you'll see why. If you've never used such knives you will never know. It's like driving a porsche for the first time, realising it's shit hot, until you then get in a lamborghini.

Cookings just a bit of a hobby for me so its enough to pay for knives I suppose plus I'd be a bit gutted to pay 500 dollars for a knife and see the mrs cutting an orange with it on a stone worktop!
