been reading an arsenal forum and not many of them seem like they will miss him very much
i was reading an arsenal forum earlier and they all seem pretty gutted about it, mind you its that thing all fans use as defence mechanism isn't it . . . . "never wanted him anyway senderos and djohrou are much better" type thing, most fans are guilty of relaying remarks similar
I'd be very worried if I was an Arsenal fan.

They've taken their place in the top 4 for granted for so long. I don't think they will go into the new season with anything like the optimism that they will have had in previous seasons.

That might be a good thing as their players will know they have to give their all

There we go, Marvin and I agree on something.

If he was to come, and be in the first team it would be at the expense of Onuoha, not Dunne.

i expect Lescott to be his partner at the back with Ned as back up, personally will be gutted to think Ned may have to settle for a place on the bench as imo Ned will be England's first choice centre half by World Cup 2014.

i just hope Ned stays and appreciates he can learn from Kolo and Lescott.

Am I being unduly pessimistic about this signing.

Toure was part of the Arsenal defence last season that lost away to the likes of Fulham,Burnley and Stoke, lost at home to Hull and Villa and drew with Boro.
He also played against Notlob away when the Arse struggled for the last couple of seasons.

Just the type of teams we have struggled against in recent years. Is he going to improve us against the hoof it and chase teams

Any thoughts

I never thought we struggled to defend against them, we just struggled to score then we over stretched ourselves trying to score.

Same, i really hope Ned keeps his place, has done absolutely nothing wrong and has evey characteristic needed for a top class defender. Better off learning by playing, rather than by training with players who are perhaps marginally better than you.

I take a very simple view: is Toure good enough to be part of a top four / Champions League side? Answer is selfevidently yes, so he will improve us.

A man who speaks sense.

I'd say we definitely need another central defender (if not two), in addition to a another box-to-box midfielder.[/quote]

Would you not consider Michael Johnson to be our box to box midfielder if he's fit? It's that long since I've seen him I couldn't say if he's fit or not but it's interesting that Micah mentions him in the video as challenging for a place!

fuck me that was bad, even by SSN's shite standards.

apologies for slight tangent but saw SSN 8 o'clock headlines and they wheeled out the worst set of statistics i have EVER seen in order to justify slagging our potential signing of Kolo.

then proceeded to re-iterate the problems Hughes will have in picking a side, put on screen 2 sides we can field and then to cap it all off put Carlos in our second string.

ycnfmiu.

He wasnt good enough to get in Arsenals team a few years ago and only because Arsenal has Senderos (who's shit) out on loan and Djourou (who also not that good) injured Toure found himself back in Arsnals team! I feel if Arsenal would have had any money over the last 2-3 years Toure would be well down the pecking order at Arsenal! When Arsenal were hammered at home to Chelsea 4-1 Toure was absolutely shocking!

Im very underwhelmed by this signing!

I can see if we get Lescott, it will be Lescott and Kompany as the 2 cetnre backs with Toure and Onuoha on the bench, within 3 months!

Get in mate, finally someone else on my wavelength. Toure is a 3rd/4th choice CB, Lescott and Kompany works well. You've just echoed everything I've said over the last god knows how many pages, nice one lad.

You can't manage a team on the basis of what is best for Nedum Onouha's career, you do it on what is best for the club.

Onouha played plenty of games last season, and if he's good enough to take the chances he will undoubtedly get. You don't need to worry about him.

Look at Stevie Ireland this time last year. No one expected him to be at the centre of our team last season, but he was. If you work hard, and are good enough, the message is you'll get picked above reputations. Nedum has already shown everyone at City what he can do.

Speak to Arsenal fans. They say he was their best defender 2nd half of last season... Arsenal's problem is they have powder-puff midfield which leaves their defence exposed.

Taxi ???

Well for starters AntMcfc is obviously a rag as I have said before . I have never seen him make an even slightly positive comment on this forum.

Then on the comments on Toure hes a regular for Arsenal and has been for years. Speak to any reasonable Arsenal fan and they will tell you Toure and Gallas was their best partnership in there - even though they hated each other they couldnt even be civilised enough to play together for 90 minutes. A couple of my mates from Uni are Arsenal fans and they gutted he is leaving and cant believe Wenger would let him go to their main rivals in the league.

Check out 606 most Arsenal fans are gutted he is leaving especially for £14 million.

Also I firmly believe Toure even sub par is as good as Alex at Chelsea and Skirtle at Liverpool. So thats 3 sides in the top for he would make the starting 11.

Get real hes a big improvement on what we currently have. We dont have a central defender anything like his quality at the club currently even with his drop in form.

understand what you are saying and don't disagree.

in my ideal world considering we get Toure and Lescott then my starting back 4 at Blackburn would be....

Toure.......Ned........Lescott.......Bridge

i just don't expect Hughes to have the same opinion as me.
