Since Vinnie has had the armband we have had 3 oustanding wins.

One was the biggest game of the season against top of the league another was a superb 3 points away to a team fighting for their lives and the same at home on sunday!

He deserves to be our skipper and the team looks like they want to play for him. Even when Tevez comes back I want Vinnie
To keep the armband.

even if tevez stays this man has to be captain from now on. a born leader and citys future captain for the next 10 years

I'd love to see him keep the armband in many respects and I'm certain that he will be our captain in the medium to long term and hopefully then for years. I don't think it would be worth pissing Tevez off though by stripping him of it while he's at the club and Kompany still plays like a captain even when he's not.

mancini said in his preview to west ham that if tevez is fit to play in the final he'll be captain

Why do people think that armband matters? Kompany's a captain whether he's got it or not, and if it makes Tevez pull his finger out then give it to him.

Mind you, we do live in a country where the national team's captaincy is treated like a mandate from heaven.

I've had a complete turn around on this. A few weeks ago I was adamant that Tevez should still be captain. The thing with Tevez though is that he is highly unlikely to be here next season so I would make the change now. Kompany has everything to be a captain and is showing that now. Also, based on his displays it's possible a bigger club could come in for him, so what better way to show our appreciation than give him the captaincy? That's what i'd do and i'd do it right now.

In my opinion, the only place it matters is (hypothetically) if we win, there will be iconic photos of our captain holding the trophy aloft which we will see for decades and I would prefer it to be Kompany than Tevez, who is looking increasingly likely to be leaving in the summer.

I hope that we have this problem though as I am getting more and more nervous about Stoke. I'm hoping they manage to beat Arsenal but contrive to get 4 of their own players sent off and pick up a few injuries.

As much as the majority of us would want Kompany to keep the armband, Mancini has already stated that Carlos will get the armband back when he get's back into the team and rightly so, and i'm not even Tevez's biggest fan.

It would simply be awkward to take the armband from Carlos at this point of the season and i suspect that's the same reason why he was allowed to keep it even after his transfer request saga. Kompany will probably get it next season anyway so there's no need to rush it. Also, i think having a striker leading the line less selfishly has helped us win our last three games as much as Kompany captaining the team.

thats a fantastic decision mancini :/

IMO, if Tevez is fit he should be captain. He's the club captain, so to take it from him in the final is to undermine him. If he stays over the summer and we change the captaincy then, I'd have no problem.
