Kompany injured again...

Surely all the players are asssesed and deemed to be match fit. Any player could get injured at any time. Aguero Silva zabaletta toure have all been injured recently. Do we rest them all?

Clearly, he has been treading on eggshells with this problem for something so innocuous to happen for it to reoccur. Yes, we all love him and want a speedy recovery, but like many have said, we need to think beyond that now for the future.

Sad times

Wonder what pep will do?

We are not the same without him but what do you do? He can't stay healthy. Pep will want his own men back there. The team might want to look in a eventual replacement.

Football is ruthless at the top.

Pep needs to very carefully consider if he can rely on Kompany to play. Recent record says not.

I have great respect for Kompany as a player, a person and as a leader. However injuries have to make Pep question who he wants to be his "key" defenders.

It's idiotic when people say "I bet he'll be fit for Belgium". His injuries are deeply frustrating, for him more than anyone else, but to suggest he's not arsed about City is ridiculously disrespectful. He's been our most successful ever captain and, I suspect, would've preferred not to get injured tonight.

Pains me to say it but I think we have to start thinking of life without VK as our number 1 centrehalf. A magnificent player and captain for us but he can't go on like this. It must be heartbreaking for the bloke as I genuinely believe he is one of us now.
Chin up Vinny lad.

It was a needless risk to play a 1st choice 11. And why wasn't Iheanacho involved?

Pellegrini came here saying he was going to give young players a chance. What a joke that was. 3-1 up and we're putting the likes of Bony ahead of him and riskig injuries to important players ahead of a crucial game. He is a bad manager. And he got what he deserved tonight only we fans also get punished. I cannot wait for him to leave this club. Nice chap I am sure but a bad manager who gets too many calls wrong

Agree 100% with this. He should have rested players (hardly hindsight when people were saying it before the game) - instead he picks another unbalanced, uninspiring team. Not involving Kelechi was another negative decision, and what is going on with Sterling (probably MoTM in the first leg) - is MP trying to destroy his confidence completely?

I think we will limp into the top 4, but it will be despite MP, not because of him. Really can't wait to see the back of him now.

My thoughts as well

I've not read the full thread but I've heard his injury is arthritic to his calf muscle. Not looking good. I think he may have to call time on his career. Very sad.

Driving home listening to Andy Townsend and Ally MCcoist, who were both sympathetic to our cause, on Radio 5 Live.
Townsend was extremely informative, assessing that City need to go back to the original diagnosis when Kompany first experienced problems, and perhaps change the whole approach.
However, he then made an interesting comparison with Ryan Mason at Tottenham, who was apparently experiencing all kinds of strains and injuries, until Pochettino changed his training routine, by making him work harder, as opposed to continual rest.
I'm not saying that this would work for Kompany, but it's interesting that City and Arsenal appear to be suffering far more repetitive injuries than Spurs and Leicester.
