Kompany injured again...

Agree 100% with this. He should have rested players (hardly hindsight when people were saying it before the game) - instead he picks another unbalanced, uninspiring team. Not involving Kelechi was another negative decision, and what is going on with Sterling (probably MoTM in the first leg) - is MP trying to destroy his confidence completely?

I think we will limp into the top 4, but it will be despite MP, not because of him. Really can't wait to see the back of him now.

Sorry but I think Pellegrini picked a team to do a job tonight and that job was to see the tie out. You're the second person tonight I've heard question why Sterling wasn't involved, the other was some prick on Talksport. Sterling wasn't involved because he can't/doesn't offer what Navas does defensively. He may well have featured earlier if both Kompany and Otamendi hadn't been forced off but once that happened Pellegrini had to delay his subs in case we went down to 10 men somehow. I didn't see anything 'unbalanced' about the team tonight, Sterling did his job in the first leg, tonight it was Navas's turn, because tonight was about retaining possession, closing down, denying space and frustrating the opposition. It wasn't pretty to watch and it wasn't enjoyable, but it was far more enjoyable see us go through to the quarter finals by being pragmatic than it would have been seeing us cling on at 2 nil down for the last ten minutes simply because we tried to win a game that was already won. Yaya was immense btw.

Those just saying we should replace him, the problem is with who? We have tried and failed many times to recruit a defender who could step up in his absence. Mangala just isn't good enough and even Otamendi who was one of the highest rated defenders in La Liga has looked very suspect. No doubt people will come out with a list of names but Kompany is one of the best defenders of his generation. His intelligence, his reading of the game, his strength, his leadership, his passion are near impossible to replace. We can keep buying defenders all we want but I really don't think we will be able to replace him and what he brings to the team. I'm just going to hope he gets it sorted and we can enjoy another few years of him in our defence.

Why would Sterling have to offer anything defensively against a team who didn't look like they realised they were 3-1 down. You think Navas should have played, that's your opinion. Nobody is a prick for suggesting Sterling should have started, which includes me.
The boy needs a bit of confidence and a run out under little pressure against a team he's already give the run around to was just what he needed.

Can't believe some of the things being spouted here.

Yes he may not fully recover from these injuries but if anyone deserves the support of the club and more importantly the fans, it's Kompany.

He deserves our backing till the end.

So unlucky if we get him fit hes our leader and best defender. I think if the club were to tell him dont rush back get back for the last few games and get him fit it would benefit next season. Send him for whatever ops needed as he still has it and a fully fit Kompany saves us points a season.

Kompany one of my favourite players at City .
This looks like it might be one injury too many .

Couldn't agree more mate.

Top 4 just got a lot more difficult, though.

Hindsights a wonderful thing isn't it. Before we kicked off nobody knew how Kiev were going to approach the game and the objective must have been to keep it tight early on and see how the game developed. That's why, in my opinion, both Fernando and Fernandinho played and why Navas started over Sterling, it's why he didn't take a chance and rest Kompany and (again it's my opinion) he hoped Aguero might nick a goal and put it to bed. By the time (probably half-time) it was clear how the game was going we'd lost both our central defenders. Had we not, I think Sterling would have come on earlier and others, maybe Yaya or Aguero wouldn't have played the full 90 minutes. I don't know whether it was Goldstein or Cundy on Talksport who questioned why Sterling didn't start but regardless of which one it was, they're a prick.

I struggle to hold my patience with the guy when he thinks it's ok to be injured but then go and play for Belgium and then come back to us reinjured again.

You can bet he'll play for Belgium in the summer and not rest his calf and give it some proper time to heal.

It's unfortunate but because of his potentially career threatening injuries he needs to rest rest and rest and then get back to trying consistently play club football.
He won't thou, he'll play for Belgum in the summer and then have injuries next year again.

Pisses me off tbh
