Despite being of the opinion Kompany's calfs apparently can't handle topsport, I do sincerely hope he will be ready for the EC and play the whole tournament to give him the confidence his calfs CAN cope. Feel gutted for the big man, and he needs to have some character to get over this latest setback. He will, no doubt. It's up to the technical management to decide if the team needs to continue to build the defence around him. As it is now it looks some gamble. Unfortunately.

As for Sunday, anyone can play the United frontline. I'd hardly get scared if Pellegrini was to play Fernando and Navas as centrebacks.

He needs to just be brought in to play the big games when he's back for next time again. Even if that means two games a month for the rest of his career. Retire from international football and just play once every other week.

I assumed on Saturday that Mangala wasn't fit enough to play, because I'd have taken a punt on Otamendi and Mangala then and rested Kompany. Next season it will be interesting to see how Pep manages Kompany, personally I'd invest in (yet another) top class centre back, bring back Denayar, and ship out MDM and whichever one of the other two he doesn't fancy and rotate Kompany in whatever way suits his fitness best. It was definitely Goldsten or Cundy on Talksport but I switched it off when 'Jackie a City fan' came on!

It's gutting for Vincent, but from a City point of view we can't rely on him anymore. He should be a squad player for here on. It wouldn't surprise if we signed both Stones and Laporte this summer.

Vinny , perhaps has one more chance to resurrect his career with this persistent injury, the player management has to be better now, he can no longer play 3 games a week, don't know what the answer is really as its blighted him his whole career.

One thing is for sure he stays at the club in some capacity, coaching badges, perhaps take on a Brian Kidd type role in the future, possibly into managment-same as Paddy Viera. He is a leader and you don't let leaders leave the club.
