It is a bit concerning to be honest. There's been no news of an injury and as someone has said, we had no cover on the bench, so even if he was being rested, you'd think that he'd be on the bench.

SB in the MEN was told that both he and Nasty were "rested". People read too much into some things.

my understanding is that (despite the Belgian injury issue) he was the closest of the players to Mancini by far and was gutted about him leaving - I assume he was emotionally drained, which would not leave him in the correct physical condition for a professional footballer

I can't think when we would have done this in the past though. If Vinny's fit, he plays. If he's on his way back from injury, he sometimes starts on the bench. I can't ever remember him being totally rested.
