Kompany [Not] Injured - Starts today PT 2.

Anyone can make a mistake.
or two.
or three.

There is a difference between defending a player from undeserved criticism, and pointing the obvious. Do you think that Pellegrini will say 'It's OK, Vincent, keep losing one-on-ones (Sterling), and I know you were supposed to mark Skrtel, but hey, he is so quick. And for that last one, at least this time it was not an own goal.'

He is a really nice guy, and tries hard, but fuck me, this was one bad, bad performance, and if this were anyone else, he would be on the bench for the next few games, pondering what went wrong. Let's see.

Reminded me a little of the own goal against Fulham. On both occasions he was under no direct pressure and simply tried to kick the ball too hard, thereby having less control and, unfortunately, an undesired result.
Correct....he should have put the ball back where it came from with the side of his foot but decided to try and take the skin off it with his laces....school boy stuff

Said months ago that Kompany has been known to be vulnerable of doing "A Kompany", meaning -in Belgium at least- he has a moment of arrogance or lack of concentration that leads to a mistake of the caliber that doesn't suit him for the terrific defender.

Well, maybe yesterday Kompany was suffering an injury but than he should not have played. He defended poorly for the 1st goal, yet not his fault as Hart was covering Vinny's back. He let go Skrtel for the 2nd and we all know what he did for the 3rd ... a clear exemple of doing "A Kompany".

The man is a fantastic player and I can easily cope with the mistakes he makes (Villa away, 1st few seconds of the derby at home, Fulham away to name a few). He's a leader of the team, and in personal a friendly and clebver guy. But he is not a worldclass defender.

He had some of the same mistakes earlier this season, just in this match he did it all together...

Remeber the Pool game at home, they were running behind him just the same way, just werent able to score from those, this time they were.

Hardly a good season for him, not even a decent. But blame is on Pelle too, these changes to high line, back from it, then again, less help from the midfield players, when Kompany said in an interview it feels like 4 defenders, 6 strikers tactics sometimes, and they have to get used to it and they "enjoy it".
Our defenders cant "win", they are being exposed many times, lot more than before, and this extra pressure force them to make more mistakes even mistakes that are not forced by opponents. While Hart is far from an intelligent GK that would adapt well for a tactical change like this, I think he should come out lot more but the way he comes out, the timing, its like a complete mess for him. And this way he doesnt come out when should, and comes out when he shouldnt really. Big problems in our general defending, the individual mistakes ware just smaller parts of the big picture. It is proved by even Kompany has had many mistakes this season, mainly from being late, bad positioning, keeping offside line or not, when to run when not etc.

Really a transition season for our defence, but did they improve a lot? I cant see the proof of that. Alone Kolarov showed some improvement, mostly in his attacking game and crossing. But as we are more open now under Pelle, the defensive performance of the fullbacks are even more important, or they leave the CB's under even more pressure.

Not improving our defending next year, individually and as a team will again cost us nearly everything, thats simply a fact. Its crucial to improve it. Would love if we could go and press teams, and cause them all sorts of problems but maybe it wont work for us with certain players.

He's had a poor season. He's had Injuries and in the games he has played, there have been mistakes.

I think he is a World Class defender whose season has been undermined by injury. He hasn't had the terrific focus he had in the title winning season and has made mistakes.

We are too reliant on him. Nastasic has been a big loss

interesting reading these comment. most of you including me were crying last night and shitting our pants that he might miss the game!

Yes, I was shitting when the news broke. And I was a happy man when I saw his name in the starting line-up.
However, in hindsight Kompany should have stayed injured ...

True

He talks a good game, but after that title winning season he hasn't been the same player. He needs to get his physical fitness back. Whether that will happen this Summer on the back of the World Cup I am not sure

I also fear he may move on.

Everyone has to aspire to be the best they can be (how many of us do that?). Is he at the right place to do that. City can win a Champions League, and every honour, and we can do that in Kompany's playing career, but it wont just happen by chance.

Pelle said he asked him and he said he is OK to play. I dont know if its good that the player decides he is fit, the medical team that saw what happened the day before at training shoud advise Pellegrini that they think this injury can have any bad effect or can play without problem if the player feels no problem.

Of course Kompany surely wouldnt want to miss a game like this, and maybe said he feels no problem but maybe he did. Pretty much he did as the first thing he tweeted was he is getting a treatment today.

Little bit the other way around when Jovetic decides he is not fit.

These are small details, and we are in the dark of course, but maybe it cost us the league. So many problems around injuries, too much to blame it all on luck or the lack of it. The medical teams performance is like Moyes is in charge of it too.
