Kompany to get new contract

It's a 'no brainer' for me and I don't understand why it hasn't been sorted already. The FA Cup win was slightly soured for me by the fact it was Tevez who lifted it when it should have been big Vince.

Get the contracts sorted City asap - Vince as Skipper with de Jong as vice captain.

Yes Kompany deserves a new contract along with De Jong. Saying that the money being mentioned is a bit to the extreme with the new money rules coming in. We cant afford to be paying most of our squad £100,000 + a week. There will have to be a sort of wage structure put in place. Kompany and De Jong both deserved to be looked after but some of the other players wages seem to be a bit too much for what they give to the team. I think it will come a time were the players that come to club in the coming seasons wont be getting the huge money compared to before.

Read somewhere that Mancini has plans to make Barry captain. I dismissed it as pure BS but then it was mentioned in another paper yesterday or the day before.

Also when Mancini had the press conference before the L.A Galaxy game, Barry was the player he brought along to it. Ofcourse this could just be because of Kompany not being completely fluent in English. But It seems to keep cropping up in places.

IMO Barry would make an excellent captain but I'd still say Kompany is the better choice.

From what ive been told and what it actually matters, the money isnt the issue with the contracts but all the legal bullshit behind the contracts regarding sponsorship and marketing.

So I'm a pleb for expressing my opinion and telling the forum some things I've read in papers. You really are pathetic.

Whilst Kompany is quite fluent and speaks excellent English, his accent and occasional grammatical errors could have been why Mancini choose not to take him to a press conference in favour of Gareth Barry.

I'm not saying this is definitely the reason. But It's a possibility, along with the possibility that Kompany was simply unavailible. So please respect other peoples opinions you ignorant ****.

Yes he is because he is likely to sitt on the bench ALOT next season.

Kompany is a leader, has been longer at the club than Barry....and he is one of the first players on the team sheet.

Choosing the next long-term City captain must be the easiest thing in the world. You dont have to think at all.

If Barry got the armband that would be a step in the wrong direction. I think we should get rid of him and cash in on him as he is only going to get worst in the coming years. We really should be looking at other options and a real box to box midfielder to take that role. I would start Milner out with De Jong and Yaya but I think we may well need better than both Milner and Barry in the longterm.
