Is there a captain like Kompany around? So glad we have a guy like him at our club. So sweet of him to do something for the unprivileged kids in Belgium by purchasing a football club in the lower division. I know some players have foundations for charity and stuff but have not heard of player buy a club for good cause if anyone has please mention it ^^

Back in January we brought you news from Belgium about Vincent Kompany's plans to buy a football club and use it to help a community, increase sport participation and encourage educational advancement, It was all quite impressive and yet another thing which singles Kompany out as one of football's smarter individuals.
His dad, Pierre, told Sudpresse that his son wanted to buy third division Bleid Molenbeek and use it to help youngsters in the country.
"The will of my son is to develop a social project, allowing students to pursue quality education while playing football at a good level."
Now things have taken several steps forward and Sport Wereld in Belgium reports that Kompany has almost completed the transaction. Not only that, but he's managed to get a group of sponsors to back the club and its aims financially. The most striking of which is probably Liverpool's shirt sponsor Warrior. Not so long ago, the brand name was little heard of in football but the company's deal with the Merseyside team has seen them become a recognisable brand, which is obviously the point of them throwing such a huge amount of cash at the Premier League club.
Warrior have made no secret about their desire to get into football as much as possible and with this commitment they're showing a will to help out where possible. Kompany has signed up with Warrior himself, something he announced this month, and it doesn't take a leap of faith to think that helping Bleid Molenbeek was part of the deal.
Kompany has also managed to get German car giant Mercedes on board and is working on other major sponsorships.
He'll need them, the club has problems. Bleid Molenbeek don't even know for sure where they'll play their games next season so need all the funding they can possibly get their hands on. With Vincent Kompany so determined to help the club and the wider community, it's likely that the project will be a success and we wish everyone involved all the luck they need.
