I was there for 4 days. 3 of them in bed, near death with a lung infection. The last night I got on the piss hard. Staying at a party hostel and it was their 5th anniversary. So much vodka!
But yeh, nice city with good nightlife. Auschwitz is an hour away. Haunting but worth a visit. Don't go to Krakow on a public holiday if you need a hospital though, everything is fucking closed!

Fantastic place. Beautiful square. Auschwitz goes without saying but whatever you do do not be tempted to visit the salt mine.
Not even the worlds foremost salt enthusiast could find anything of interest there.

I went last year and had a great time, would recommend the main square lots of nice little restaurants around including a rather nice Greek Kebab place! The old castle thing is well worth a visit, as it has thesarcophagus' of many of the Polish kings (Jagaylonians ?) - Krakow was once the Polish capital, so has lots of interesting history to see.

The Drunk-Tank Hotel has a lovely stale bread with black coffee breakfast...

Been there 3 times, love the place. Past 2 times stayed in Hotel Columbus
