Aren’t UEFA going to step in - like they did when Etihad sponsored us - surely this is an over valuation - oops sorry I forgot it’s OK cos it’s not us

It does seem pointless, but maybe it's there for a number of reasons, for example...

- It's PR - they want to offer a world record. Even if it doesn't come off, it shows some other top talents that they are serious.
- In the context of how much money they're spending - £50-100m isn't significant, and this is the one big transfer that's possible, so they can prioritise it. It might also massage Mbappe's ego a little.
- They want to make sure that Madrid don't even try to compete.

What they're doing isn't based on normal football economics.

Noult to do with UEFA. They cant get involved for transfer fees and Saudi clubs arent governed by them anyway.
 
Remember people claiming in the Messi thread that La Liga supposedly have rules that don't allow players coming in from foreign leagues to take a pay cut?

Pretending for a minute that was true, and pretending the figures were real, and pretending he would actually go there, how funny would it be if he then couldn't move to madrid.

I know I know, it is an uneventful window.
