Kylian Mbappé

100%. They've lost out on the two highest profile forwards in the world.
The funniest thing is the claim that the deal 'threatens the economic stability of football'.

Seems fairly rich coming from Real Madrid who :

have broken the World transfer record 5 times in the past 22 years;

offered 180m for Mbappe 12 months ago (and presumably not to play for free);

survive in a League where they and Barca take a disproportionate amount of money in order to prevent competition;

wanted to create a European Super League just over 1 year ago (that would've seen most smaller clubs go out of business or at least become irrelevant);

do dodgy deals with local councils for the sale and purchase of land in order to prop up the club economically;

are built on the money & favouritism that came from the blood-lust of Francisco Franco's facist regime.

Just seems a bit rich that they'd pipe up at all when the subjects of state sponsorship / funding, or exorbitant funding are on the table.

Like Liverpool & Littlewoods, there are sime amazingly short / selective memories at times.

I can’t remember the reporting in the media being the same when the rags had to stump up a new contract to stop Rooney joining us.

So what are the implications of him turning down Real Madrid. It’s been suggested that they might move for Mane or Salah. Could any of our players be on their shopping list eg Sterling or Bernardo?

In the longer term, does it mean that they’ll try to trigger Haaland’s release clause sooner rather than later? Is there a minimum period before the release clause can be activated?

What release clause?

He’s Sterling Mk2. He’s fast with poor end product. He’s no where near the level of talent as Foden.
Kind of agree but think he has more natural ability than Sterling.

I’d say Foden, Pedri and Haaland are the best young players in the world right now.

who told you this?
It was in a few papers this week, although the exact amount seemed to vary between £150-£200m. Apparently it was a pre-condition of him signing for any club. Also reported that “City are entirely relaxed about the clause”

One aspect of this is far from comical. Yesterday we heard that Leeds and Burnley are considering legal action against Everton and the PL because of Everton's spending. This raises the possibility of relegation issues being decided not on the pitch but in a court room, possibly/probably after lengthy appeals. The precedent is hardly reassuring. Then we have Tebas and La Liga threatening to pursue PSG, UEFA and presumably NATO through every court on earth and in the heavens because of the contract agreed with Mbappe. Contractual issues have already led to court action in football and much as we believe the bluster from Spain is no more than bluster and will not lead to a battle in court (presumably CAS!) we might be wrong. It all shows what a can of worms was opened up when UEFA, under pressure from a cartel of clubs, decided it was competent to regulate club finances and ban owner/shareholder investment. We could be looking forward to a glorious age where we don't bother with the football, simply the transfer windows and then really do battle it out in court to see who's won before a coach parade to show the winning balance sheet to streets empty of fans.
