I'm taking my young daughter upto the Lake District tomorrow,i know i'm leaving it abit late but could anyone recommend a decent hotel/b&b to stay around the Windermere/Bowness area please.I presume alot of the places will be booked up by now but thinking of just driving up but would rather have something booked in advance. My laptop at home is bust due to my young lad taking off all the letters off the keyboard so i'll say thanks in advance to anyone with any replies.

I spent all last week there hiking with our kid.

Wateredge Inn at Ambleside on the shore of Lake Windermere is a cool place to take your daughter (only a 5 min drive to Bowness)

This place came up as vacancies when I searched a min ago:

Know someone who has stayed here and says it's excellent but it's a few miles up the road in Grasmere and quite reasonable

We stayed at this one a couple of times this year when up in the lake district sorting out our wedding. It's a lovely place and just up at the top of the hill in Bowness so really easy for leaving the car parked up and wandering down past the shops to the lake.

It looks like they have a family room available for the next couple of nights. Not sure how long you were looking to stay though..

Windermere/Bowness is a lovely place and I think most B&Bs are pretty good.

However, go here and you will see plenty. Work your way down if you like and see if any are available.

Wateredge is great if the budget will stand it

Or maybe stay at the Watermill at Ings?

We stayed here. 5 mins drive from Windermere :

Great pub opposite:

I used to stay in the Unicorn Inn Ambleside.Traditional English pub, with lovely little rooms, real ales and a very nice English breakfast in the moring.

Can't beat the Western Lakes if you ask me - beautiful and far from the maddening crowds
