Manchester City midfielder Fernando appears to be winning his battle to be fit to face Arsenal on Saturday.
The 27-year-old is making decent progress from the tweaked groin muscle he sustained in the shock home defeat to Stoke City prior to the international break.
The summer signing from Porto has been receiving intensive daily treatment and City will take a closer look at him on Tuesday.
Fernando has been impressive in his early City performances and boss Manuel Pellegrini is keeping his fingers crossed he could now make the big Premier League showdown at the Emirates on Saturday.
His availability is even more pressing as fellow Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho does not fly in from international duty until Friday.
