Lately my laptop screen is going very bright and i keep getting -Mozilla Firefox(not responding)..........the same happens when i use IE.Its also slow as fook the last week or two........is it for the bin or any tips lads?........thanks in advance :)

Probably full of internet crap that gets on there from time to time. If you have had it for a while this is common. Purely software so easy to fix and don't put it near the tip!!

I normally do this for mates etc fo £30 but PC worl etc will charge £80 upwards. If I can help with advice let me know or if you live anywhere near Northwich I could sort it for £30!

MY email adress is twhuk1978@yahoo.co.uk

Laptop help

can anyone help.my lads laptop starts when switched on but cuts out after a few seconds. its not out of power ;read somewhere that the fan may be clogged up with dust thus stopping the whole thing working.asked him what websites he had been on and he had been downloading music so is some sort of virus more likely.any help appreciated

Re: Laptop help

Are you sure about the power? Laptop batteries don't last forever, you might need a new one. I doubt a few seconds is long enough for it to overheat, turning it off, unless it senses that the fan isn't working and switches off automatically.

Alternatively, it could just be fucked, i don't really know what i'm talking about.

It could be one of the following problems:
A) He's downloaded music and unwittingly installed a virus - solution is get a free antivirus (<a class="postlink" href="http://free.avg.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" target="_blank">http://free.avg.com</a> or <a class="postlink" href="http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" target="_blank">http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html</a>) and run a full system virus scan or reinstall Windows;
B) The system's overheating - let it cool down for a while
C) The Windows Installation's fucked. Reinstall it from a system recovery disc which presumably came with the laptop.
