Laptop keyboards knackered

I was just checking my e-mithers on my Dell Inspiron when the keyboard just stopped working. I turned it off and tried restarting it but it doesn't want to play ball. I just get a screen asking me if I want to start in safe mode but I can't select is as the keyboards not working.

I've checked a couple of forums & tried the turning it off and removing the battery but without any luck.

Any ideas peeps?
