I have a Lenovo ideapad netbook. Somehow I've managed to "lock the keyboard" and am unable to type in browser addresses, passwords, username etc. The netbook itself is fine, still loads pages from bookmarks etc.

Any ideas what I have done and how this can be fixed?

Thanks in advance.

you tried holding down the shift key for a while sometimes turns on sticky keys??

try taking your power out plus your battery hold down the power button on the laptop for 20 secs, stop, put battery back in hook up the power and turn back on that might help.

Thanks for that oneyear. Will try that when I get home in a bit.

-- Mon Jul 12, 2010 9:44 am --

This is a serious post by the way. Am I missing something here?

the more cynical of us might think that your original post is a joke, how could you post if your keyboard was broken?
good luck getting it sorted.

try attaching another keyboard with a usb connection ................that should overide the locked keyboard and at least enable you to start to resolve

Ok, just had a look at the netbook. I might have dropped it as some point as the back panel protecting the processor etc was protruding out. Have unscrewed the panel and put it snugly back in.

Doesn't look to be any damage, but I wouldn't know where to look in the first place.

Top to bottom, left to right, the following keys work:

1 2 4 6 8 9 =

q f h j;

x c v m

If I give the netbook a gentle tap, I can get some letters, but lose others.

Any ideas what has happened here?

You may have partially dislodged a connector which can be pushed back if you can find it, could also have cracked a PCB damaging a track which may be repairable with a soldering iron if you can find it.
