Im on my second Dell and have never had any kind of problems with either apart from Vista problems!

Someone posted a link to a Dell Ebay store selling one's that had damaged boxes etc for less than normal price and still entitled to the warrentee period, although probably not ideal for gifts though.

Try http://www.Aria.co.uk - Its in manchester so you won't have to pay for shipping. Ideally you should be looking for one with 4gb of ram, and the highest possible proccessor speed (GHZ). Don't worry too much about the size of the hard-drive as its the cheapest part to replace.

I've got an ACER and its brilliant, although I think I am upgrading to a macbook pro soon

GHZ isn't a good indicattion of processor speed, and he sure as hell dosn't need 4GB of ram in a laptop thats going to be used mainly for homework & msn.

Stonie what kind of price do you want to pay ?.

Well he doesn't want a cpu thats still rated in MHZ does he? An 4gb is advisable on any new laptop that will more than likely come with Vista

Your an idiot.

Do you know what L1 & L2 Cache memory on a processor is ?.
Do you know what FSB speed is ?.
Do you know what RAM latency is ?.
Do you understand why Hd speed can be a bottle neck in computer ?.
Have you ever heard of multiple cores ?.
Do you know the difference between having a graphics card and having it onboard ?.
Do you understand the difference between 64bit & 32bit archtecture ?.
Do you understand how different chipset work ?.

If so go for your life and help the guy out, if not shut the fuck up as your not being helpfull.

p.s Actually with the level of advice your giving Stonie have you ever though of getting a job in Curries as there a bunch of usless c.unts aswell.

Yeah i know what all that is, if i didnt i wouldn't be running a wolfdale at 4.2ghz. He wants to know the basic things 2 look out for when buying a computer and thats the cpu speed and memory along with what size screen you want.
