To counter the lowest away following thread.

I’ll start with Notts County away in 1985.

Promotion game, Bank holiday Monday from memory. Party atmosphere on the special travelling to Nottingham.

3-0 down at half time, pitch invasion and fans in the dressing room. Two Simmo goals brought us back into it but it wasn’t to be.

Train wrecked on the way home

Charlton home game the week after ! Happy Days…..

Notts County average was 6000 that season. 17,000 plus there that day so I’ll hazard a guess that we had 11-12000 fans there.

The FA Cup games in 1977 vs Newcastle and then Leeds had huge away followings, must have been 10,000 + City fans at each of those games.
And then the same at Leeds in the FA Cup the following season.
The Cup was still a very prestigious competition in the 1970s - in those days we all dreamed about " A Blue Wembley" !!

If you are talking league games only and not Wembley finals / semi finals and other cup games then I would go with Notts County in 1985, Stoke on Boxing Day 1988, Oldham, the infamous ladders game and Blackburn in 2000. The first three mentioned we must have had in excess of 12,000 at each, Blackburn is slightly harder as there were so many everywhere but probably around 10k. There were also some derbies where we had 10k when we would have all the scoreboard end plus some of the united road and seats and these would be legit tickets. Then there would be plenty of others around the place. Also what about the game at Newcastle when we won the league, before my time but heard stories of 15k+

The United cup game that we lost 1-0 in the 80’s we had all the scoreboard end and all of K stand so that must have been 15000.
