Largest Away Following

Plymouth away in the league cup on a Tuesday night it got called off went on a finglands coach got to Taunton services and found out it was off they played the game the following night I think we 3-6 or something similar, then went back down again the following Saturday for a league game. I went to Ipswich away the Saturday before all this . The club give certificates out as it was the longest domestic travel we’d done in a week apparently.

Perhaps I should of posted this in lowest turn out thread. Shakes head and goes up to Bedfordshire.

Just to add another game which I dont believe has been mentioned.

Sheff Utd away circa 1993. Leading up to the match we were flying high in the league and the game was not made all ticket. There was thousands queueing outside to get on the terrace and many blues ended up in the stand opposite or locked out. I remember getting to the ground and being behind a sea of people, part frightening and part worrying I was not going to get in.

We lost the match 4-2 and Paul Lake’s brother Michael?? scored a worldy.

We had 25% of old Trafford as per FA cap rules and it was 14,000 but more were walked around the pitch. I also remember the Guvnors jumping up attacking reds above them near the corner flag and then a big kick off at the segregation in the seats at full time.
I was near the corner flag in that game and it was kicking off everywhere. Think your estimate on numbers is pretty accurate. We were truly shit that day on the pitch.

Not 100% on topic, as it’s the City forum, but managed to land a corporate freebie to to the England v France game at the 2004 European Championships, in Lisbon, which was said to be the largest away following ever at the time. There were over 40,000 England fans out of a crowd of around 65,000 which is pretty astonishing, given how France is much closer to Portugal. I would say around two thirds of the stadium were definitely England fans, with the usual high numbers of complete cunts in attendance.

Testimonials are about the same as testicles.
In other words,a load of bollocks !!!
True, only came into my head because i think he lives near me saw him out walking his dogs, plus as a 15 year old i had a teenage fumble with his future wife.
