We were in an open temporary stand at Lokeren, and Cheesy and other broadcasters were in a converted double decker bus at the side of the pitch.

Memory serves me correct people were getting into the stand with beer mats etc.

I remember a friendly at Oldham I think we won 1-6 or 0-6 we had pretty much the full stadium, every stand was filled with City.

Think they locked the turnstiles in the away end that day as it was pay on the door.

Górnik, despite getting massive crowds for home games back then (when we played them the next year in the ECWC 1/4s there were 100,000 in Zabrze’s stadium), were behind the Iron Curtain and fans of clubs in the USSR didn’t travel west for football matches, final or not.

It was supposed to be a great rematch for the defeat at the Prater in Vienna. Less than a year after the clash in the Cup Winners' Cup final, fate again associated the players of Górnik and Manchester City - this time in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The interest in the meeting surpassed all expectations. A month before the match, the organizers received 160,000 entries for admission tickets! And all the time more were coming in, despite the fact that the forecasts announced a severe frost, and it was possible to watch the event on TV. Ultimately, 90,000 lucky ones sat on the stands of the Silesian Stadium, and although they chatted with their teeth from the cold, they did not regret it. We had 10 seats in their side stand. As usual City took over Stoke and it made them unhappy.
