Of the others, Newcastle away in 1968 aside, I've seen it speculated that we took 15/16k to Leeds for the FA Cup game in 1978. Even Leeds fans have said it was the biggest away following at Elland Road ever
There was an FA Cup tie at Stoke in the mid 70s where we lost 1-0, Shilton had a worldy, we must have had 15k then too, also a Xmas league game there in 71/72 with 43,000 in attendance and similar numbers of Blues.The 2-0 win at Stoke in 76-77 deserves a mention, especially as the attendance was 15,000 higher than their next home game.
The league game a few days later was possibly our lowest ...in the very low 100sThe FA Cup games in 1977 vs Newcastle and then Leeds had huge away followings, must have been 10,000 + City fans at each of those games.
And then the same at Leeds in the FA Cup the following season.
The Cup was still a very prestigious competition in the 1970s - in those days we all dreamed about " A Blue Wembley" !!
