Last Film You Saw

Black Mass

Story of Jimmy "whitey" Bulger. Solid watch. Good performance by Depp.
Yes, thankfully, a very un-Depp performance. So much so, I had to point out it was him to my other half. Such a relief not to have to watch him chewing the scenery in an attempt to upstage his co-stars.

Bank of Dave - A true(ish) story of a chap called Dave Fishwick from Burnley who wanted (still trying) to set up a new bank to support local people/business in his area 6.6/10*

The real story is far more impressive
I saw this advertised the other day, now I’m not for one moment saying my finger’s on the pulse with goings on in the wider world, but when they said what he was trying to do, l couldn’t believe I was only just hearing about it, maybe I should get out more, but look forward to watching it and hoping your 6.6/10 is you being hard to please ;-).

Saw Avatar 2 on IMAX yesterday, thought it looked visually impressive. Yet for all the ground breaking special effects, you could tell the story on a postage stamp.

Acting wise, Sigorney Weaver is terrific as a naavi girl. Stephen Lang is back at the big bad, but it's not really a patch on his performance in the original.

The sequel has the same strengths and weaknesses as the original, an awful lot of time with the characters marvelling at their stunning environment, I'm a fan, but I suspect haters will hate.

A word on a making of featurette that was on before the movie. It was the filming of a stunt on the new Mission Impossible.

Tom Cruise parachuting into a rocky gorge . Off a motorbike. That he's just ridden off a big fuck off cliff on a huge built up ramp.

Even thinking about it gives me vertigo, utterly amazing!!!!
