I think putting in these bids is actually stamping our authority over the transfer market rather than making us a laughing stock. We were never going to get every player we went in for but we are showing some of the best teams in the world (Chelsea, Barca) that we mean business.

Also it's not like we begged Barca to give us Eto'o we gave them the choice theres the money take it or leave it. They chose to leave it as did Chelsea but plenty of other teams will take the money and we will get our man. Laughing stock - we will have the last laugh.

We've ripped RSC away from Blackburn against their wishes, and we've taken Barry from Villa against their wishes. We may be able to get Lescott from Everton against their wishes.

We are able to bully every team apart from the ones in the CL. There's a kind of 'glass ceiling' at that point. So we're the best prospect for the group of players outside of CL teams. We need to get the best players available and breach that 4th spot. If and when we do, we will be able to bully ANYONE.

It's easy sometimes to forget that some posters are actually children. When you're 13, the prospect of being laughed at or 'losing face' can seem like the worst thing life can throw at you. For those of us who grow out of puberty, it becomes less of an issue. Of course, some posters are adult with the mindset of 13 year olds. Either way, experience with my own teenage children tells me you're wasting your breath suggesting that 'losing face' isn't really a grown up issue.

Some good points,i look at it this way "didn't get him move on",a hell of a lot of players want to play in the chumps league & players from spain/italy will as British players have done in the past find it very hard to leave their roots behind.
ps.it might be a good idea for the kids on here not to text their mates as soon as we are linked to a player on tribal/goal dot coml or by a WUM on here,& then giving it the big one about who we are signing,keep your powder dry kids.

Can I just say that anyone whinging about is being a laughing stock over failed signings does not deserve to be a city fan.

Such a loser attitude that we should not try in case we fail and such thin skinned people do not have the character, heart or passion to be true blues and need to get a grip.

We are trying to do a deal for one of the best players in the world and have played hard ball we should be feckin proud of city!

And if you are too precious and soft to handle a bit of press or other fan ridicule then don't bother to get up in the morning as you are too soft for real life.

and to be fair the press know this and have not give us too much grief this morning.
it would be nice to get hold of a 20+ a season striker to make the step up to top 6 or even 4 though.
