What a great race day. Minutes off everybody and I did like the way Porte shadowed Quintana and then nicked a few more seconds by sailing past him! The biggest question for me is how come Nibali is nowhere near his form of last year!

Just seen a lot of the stats from todays ascent, everyone bar Froome had stats like w/kg similar to those in the mid 90's. Good ride from Froome, poor from the rest of the GC contenders, unless they all plan on leaving Froome for dead over the next 2 days, as if that'll happen though.
Cracking ride from Thomas. He said in his interview he even had to slow down and wait when he got up to Val Verde so that he did not help him up towards Froome. Just a thought, should Porte and Thomas have slowed and conserved energy to help Froome tomorrow, what do you experts think?

Not an expert but they were obviously feeling very good, Porte especially, to catch and take Nairo. Sky (and Froome) will miss him when he leaves at the end of the season. G also underlined the fact he could be a GC contender in the very near future. Would be good if he could go to the Giro or Vuelta next season.

Nibali was helped last year, with no Quintana, and Froome and Contador crashing out, and Astana as a team were so much stronger than everyone else. Wasnt a surprise to see him suffering today when he was struggling on others stages before today. I was surprised to see Bertie crack, the Giro obviously having an effect on him and Froome obviously smelt blood in the water and went to really destroy them all. Great ride by Sky's main 3 riders.

Destroyed the field today would like to see how much energy that took out of him in the next 2 days. I dont know what will happen but the rest of the GC guys really have to attack over the next 2 days.
