Le Tour De France 2015

Destroyed the field today would like to see how much energy that took out of him in the next 2 days. I dont know what will happen but the rest of the GC guys really have to attack over the next 2 days.
The G man, my favourite rider , not only because he is from the land of my fathers but because all round he is just becoming a truly superb rider. Mountains, cobbles, one day races, GC, road, track etc he is fantastic. I really hope to see the dragon flag aloft a GC podium. What a support rider though.

What I loved today is that everyone thought it was Movistar to attack and that is how it started but then sky took the attack to them and showed just how strong they are. I think tomorrow and the day after Sky just need to mark the other riders and conserve before stamping authority again in the Alps

Fantastic attack from Froome, I though he had gone a bit early for a sustained effort but when you feel good you feel good, the sprint to the line to try and pick up that one more second tells me he had a little left. The smile on Porte's face as he sat on Quintana's wheel was priceless. I hope the thought process with Porte supposedly leaving will be to bump Geraint up to second GC guy, his form this year has been nothing short of Stellar.

Not sure Nibali is any kind of condition as you just don't blow that early and he looked in deep trouble, for the GC boys every second you lose is twice as hard to get back they sometime minimise losses but when you see Nibali and Contador shipping so much time you know they are not glass cranking it.

All Froome has to do now is follow but I think we know that's not his game

Professional Cycling is the only sport where you need to wait six years to see who actually won!
I find it hard to believe anyone even watches it half the field will be found out as drug cheats over the next few years it has to be the worlds most crooked sport.

Not wanting to derail the thread but I believe it is naive to think cycling is the most crooked sport. However, it is certainly a sport where the authorities at least they make an effort to catch cheats.

I think it is likely you will find a strong correlation between the sports worth the most amount of money and the amount of top athletes consuming PEDs. It is inconceivable for football not to be up to its neck with many professional footballers cheating. However, the football authorities do not take testing seriously.

Boom and Scarponi have been unwell. It would not surprise me if he is too.

Get through the next 2 days and don't fall off during the rest of the race and he's won it.

There are a few more variables - illness, crashes, mechanicals and hunger 'flats'.

When you think about it Froome could have won in 2012 but for team orders. In 2013 he did win it. In 2014 he could have won it but crashed out and he will win it in 2015. What I'm saying is we're looking at one of the all-time greats here. The way he attacks in the mountains he can win it easily another 3 times to join the 5-times club. He could have won it 4 times already!

2012 we will never know because Wiggo destroyed him in the time trial but it is entirely possible, 2014 not so sure, his form was patchy at best and a series of falls had rattled him he would have got on the podium for sure but top step not maybe not. It seems everyone is talking of the Alps being the decider and that is true of course but I think the form Froome is in it will just be deciding if the gap to second is 5,7 or 10 min (10 being very unlikely mind)

Froome is an incredible cyclist but I just can't warm to the bloke..he was brought up in South Africa which says a lot about his character and you can just tell he's an utter c*nt off camera

At the end of the day as much as I love Wiggo, Froome would destroy him these days
