Le Tour De France 2015

Long live transparency eh? Got to love these lap top wankers.

Apart from Jonathan Tiernan-Locke I can't think of another rider who has failed a drug test at Sky and even then it was for doping before he joined

Who are we to believe then? a team formed by British Cycling who have an impeccable record, a pro cycling team that offered to allow anti doping expert to be embedded within the team for a year or the nay sayers, its laughable.

Anyway back to the tour, I predict an attempted combined duffing up of Froome by Contador and Nibali, they will work together for sure, Quintana will probably do his own thing, Time for Poels, Konig and Porte to do their stuff now although I suspect it will be left to Geraint as usual.

Its a joke as the Mo Farrah and Salzazar documentory showed how doping can be done and go undetected by the testing. The tour has always been full of doping for years and years pro cycling isnt a clean sport its being done time and time again the teams doctors are just too advanced for the testing still. I think with the big tours its so demanding that you would think that there has to be some sort of doping as you cant put push your body to those limits for so long without breaking it or helping it on the way. I think it would help if the teams just came clean and admitted the doping. I think cycling should aloud doping as its going on no matter what. People will watch the tours there still going to be drama but at the moment we will always get these links to doping all the time.

The human body is capable of taking a lot of punishment, I ride on average about 150 miles a week, its nothing, I go away "training" in Majorca and France well I say training its more ride and refresh ;) on these trips I ride about 450-500 miles in 6 days with about 35-40'000 ft of climbing, I am 50 in December fit enough but like a drink and my body handles the exertions quite well. Now these guys go at it much harder than myself but train, eat and look after themselves in a way I never have and peak for these events so I can imagine them handling a grand tour quite easily.

Btw I am not blind to doping just trying to put across that the body is more than capable

The reason is that Froome is questioned is people like Nibali, Rodriguez, Quintana and Wiggins all came through the youth ranks or well known cycling backgrounds and showed promise, whereas Froome came out of nowhere, was hit and miss for a few years then became an absolute machine for Sky.

I understand your points but Wiggins came through the system as you say and still got massively questioned after his exploits after his 3rd/4th for Garmin slipstream and then during his Tour win, the cycling media always seem to be desperate to kill off the the sport that pays their wages, whether Sky have dropped a PR brick or not is a moot point if they believe their own data which belongs to them on their own systems has been stolen in an attempt to muddy the waters are they not allowed to highlight the hypocrisy ?

Disco i know what your saying it can be done but its the speed there going up the mountains. Back to back to back mountain days in this tour and you will get the same guys in the top 10 riders for the race. So you will get Froome , Contador , Nibali and Van Garderen all battling it out in the mountains with the other climbers but these guys are constantly up with the speed at the top. I just find there recovery is hard and you would question how they can consitantly do it.

You cite four riders who grew up in the heart of world cycling in countries where it was an option. Froome is like a Quintana or other rider growing up in a country where there is little infrastructure.

You see it in most sport why for example where players who don't go through the top academies take a lot longer to blossom and get the edges off

My point wasn't where the country they're from matters, Froome isnt like Quintana as no-one knew about him, he was a injury ravaged cycler who's started tearing it up, Quintana has been the most exciting youngster in cycling since he moved to Movistar in 2012 and he's still only 25.

The drugs debate is a bit mute as we will never know until someone spills the beans. Its not like anyone is tearing the field to shreds every day. Froome has looked very strong and is taking small chunks out of the opposition but he is in an incredibly strong team in terms of riders and also an incredibly highly tuned professional machine in terms of organisation and training. If he was in some rag tag bunch and ripping clear at the close of every stage then fair enough question it but he has earned his place at the top over a good few years.

@Gaudion M I'd recommend watching Froome's 2013 Ventoux run on youtube, he literally destroyed Contador & Quintana and that's the video with the leaked data and power source which is causing the controversy not his current tour performance
